And first couple of hours mowing. An interesting area comprising of various slopes, up, down, across. Area pretty dry so no issues. Will have to see how it goes with the grass wet. Finding the R1s are a rougher ride the the R4s I’m used to.. hydraulic top link and side shift on flail worked well.

Did your dealer not offer r4 with purchase? On mine I had choice of r4, r1, or turf tread! Might ask about it sometimes dealers will even switch them out for you after delivery! I'm looking at flail mower as well but need it 7ft or 8 ft big difference in prices see some for 2k then other brands 5k or more !

We only have the one LS dealer in the whole state of Hawaii, luckily on same island. This was the only XR in stock, none on order. The next size tractor in stock did have R4s but not the right size, smaller. Corporate LS in NC has been less than supportive, still haven’t answered my emails and phone call after 6 weeks.
A couple weeks ago they did tell dealer they would swap them out, provided: I pay shipping both ways. They quoted over $1100 to ship the tires, no figure on return. Had that been the total price, I would have done it. Would also require dealer to pay cost of the tires up front, approx $2500, but would refund after they received the returned R1s. I would NOT consider asking dealer to do so. No time frame was provided, but it took 2 weeks to ship the 3rd rear remote kit and even then sent wrong stuff.

Dealer is quite willing to make the switch if I get the tires, but it is my understanding (no input from LS) that the R4s require different rims.

Yes being in Hawaii probably means dealing with shipping issues where I'm at I just have 3 hr round trip to nearest city with amenities locally only one grocery
store 20% high on everything a hardware store that has a little with 25% higher prices only the feed store seems close to average but I'm glad I dont need a boat lol

Isn't that the truth! 89 degrees here and not a drop of air moving. No breeze means no wildfire smoke at the moment.

It was 95 here till it rained now 75 but tomorrow when gets sunny again it will reinforce my decision to get a tractor with ac lol

Big fire n Anchorage area when we were there Jun, smoke in the air to Seward area.

Another few hours mowing with flail. First along the driveway, coconut tree alley. Neighbor had quite an area of pig routing just outside his fence, know it would be too much for his Scag, I leveled it with my LS/ flail.

Then I moved to another outside area that has been neglected of late.

Not only overgrown and thick but ground left in terrible shape by potato farmer and made worse by pig rooting.

David do you have hammer (mulch) blades or grass (Y ) blades on your flail mower, cutting in the dirt can dull them . I bought the ditch flail to cut around our pond and will probably replace my 6 ft finish mower with the 68 inch flail.

I have not bought mine yet but I'm thinking the hammer type looks like it could be sharpened easily when blades get worn! The Y type look like they would just get more of the mother in law brush stuck in it!
