What did you do on the first day of retirement?

Now, that's funny right there!
Yea, because it will be a cold day in a hot place before my wife poses like that. She'd never hold my chain saw. Lol

What the hey? Bought my wife a chainsaw, a new axe and a gas woodchipper. I can't keep up with her.

Then you are all set for a pose. Wonder what she does does with the wood chipper?

I showed it to my wife, she said the shoes didnt match the outfit. Lol

A good photographer and model always has changes of clothing. Here is Katie posing at the money-making portion of the skidder in her "work boots". You can ask your wife is this is better! (LOL)

I asked her when she was going to pose like that, she said she needed red shoes... Lol

Katie will wear this outfit out on date-nights sometimes, where her shoes definitely match her outfit!

This was the Little Red Dress she wore for those guys who asked for her picture beside our coal boiler. She will wear this when we go out on date-nights, or an identical blue one, but I was a little surprised when she agreed to a photo shoot wearing it knowing it was going to be posted directly for a bunch of guys whose interest is in coal boilers. Not that there is anything wrong with interest in such things.

Can't blame a man for interest in coal boilers. Now, I'm even interested. I'm still waiting for Lil Red Riding Hood.

This thread reminds me of a couple of fellows I was involved with one year in planning the State Fair of Texas. These two guys had each worked about 35 years for the same company, but one retired a couple of years before the other one did, but they'd been long time buddies.

So the first had been retired a couple of years.
The second one then retired and early the next morning, called his buddy, woke him up, and said, "Well, now that I'm retired, what should I do?"
The first guy replied, "Sleep a little later."

I'll be retired 2 years in April yet I still wake up about 5AM every day. That's only an hour later than I used to get up for work. I guess old habits never die. But the wife doesn't mind because getting up at 5 I have coffee made, snow shoveled off porch, driveway plowed and her car brushed off so she can go to work. Come summer I'd be out in the garage before 6 working on something.

I am retired now, but I think in the short amount of time between when I got cancer and when I retired, I was more busy then when I worked.

I am a workaholic by nature, so I am always busy. It is hard now with the fatique of cancer because my mind is on "go", but I just cannot get going, or if I do, I have to stop after only an hour or two. I am probably whining so I will stop, but it is hard when you can think of tons of things to do and just can't do it.

Guilt plays into it as well as I know God holds us accountable not only for what we have spent our money on, but also our time. It does not matter if we are retired or not; we all have 24 hours in a day...what is it spent doing?? That is the real question. I try to spend time helping others who have not been as fortunate as me in life. Sure, they might have made some mistakes and I might have avoided some of those vices, I attribute it to God just being gracious in my life.

As for nostalgia, my wife loves the 1930's era, so we set our home up as such. Not entirely, but with the antiques I got from my late-Grandmother, it has a 1930's feel to it. Here is a photo of my wife in an authentic silk 1930's dress. You can be the judge on whether or not it has a 1930's feel. (BTW: We burn coal too still).

Now if the shoes were red and you have a dog named Toto there would be a story.

The first one is of me and her; me being the heroic logger that saves Little Red Ridinghood from the Big Bad Wolf, and then the other two of what you really want to see...her as Little Red Ridinghood alone. It was a lot of fun and turned out well I guess. You guys can be the judge though.
