Here is what I have Winston. Hopefully you can see it. Bucket attachment requires a pin at bottom and a hook type deal at top. Everything I've looked for online seems to be a bust beyond hiring a fabricator to make me some forks. bucket2.jpg

Sorry for the bad pic. My phone is terrible at night. Ill try to send a better one in the morning. But to stay on thread, I built a "root puller" out of a tow strap and some chinese vise grips from harbor freight today that served me well. By myself, I had to utilize the FEL to pull up 2-3 roots per spot instead of pulling horizontal each time to minimize jumping off and on the seat. It worked well.

That ring sealer is known as "snake oil" here in The States.

Yeah Norm I never expected miracles out of it but it shouldn't have made it worse  Anyway I dumped it and I'm back to where I was before.

Sounds to me like at the very least you need to spring for a head gasket. Don't know what color your smoke is but it could be possible some is caused by coolant. That sure wouldn't be good for cylinder walls and rings.

It realistically doesn't use any coolant per se. The level goes down but I mean like 50mL in 12 months type of loss so I don't believe it is consuming it. It does occasionally blow blue smoke but majority is grey/black. I had a bit of a poke around after I changed the oil the other week and noticed the IP hammering on the 2 injector lines was different. 1 really hammered and the other way less, I suspect maybe the pump isn't delivering enough fuel pressure and not cracking his injector properly which may explain my rough running problem? And yes at least a HG but rings.... what to do with that little saga........

That does look like a type of quick attach. I am hoping the Mesquite gentleman will contact me back.

He did email me back and I sent him your picture and awaiting his response to that.

I know vn tractors is a sore spot for many and sure not meaning to bring everybody down on this gentleman. Just want you to see his ad. vn YNM FX 285 Tractor with Front End Loader

I did speak with "Andy" on the phone and he said your loader is an older model, the new ones are no longer like that. Very hard for me to understand him with my old ears. One or both of us didn't speak very good English. He is not from around here anywhere. Seemed to indicate you might have to go with bucket clamp on type forks. Looking at your picture I would think there might be quick attach forks out there that might not be that hard to adapt to your loader. Got to have a little fabrication abilities I imagine.

Worried that the bucket clamp on style might damage my bucket if I try a pick that may be a bit too big. Then I'll be looking for a hard to find bucket or fabing a fix for it too. If the attach points on the new style bucket in the CL ad you sent have the same spacing, it seems like it would be a easy fab change to accommodate my top hook style. I'll wait a bit to see if a set surfaces. Otherwise I guess I need to practice my weld beads and start from scratch. Thanks for looking into it Winston.

The 147D in the barn had a brake lock that ended about ankle high, so I welded an extension to it that makes the handle up about a foot from the driver's foot instead of level with the top of the driver's shoe/boot. Why on earth did they make the brake lock end at your ankle? There was no practical way to engage/disengage it. The previous owner carried a stick with a hook attached.

You talking about the parking brake type feature? You lean down and engage it and then disengage it?? Not hard at all.

In the picture below, it's the lever just in front of the brake pedals. Perhaps it's because the previous owner placed a different seat much higher and further back that makes the lever difficult to access. In any situation, it's now changed and easy to reach.

Very similar to the one on my YM2000. Your is just more refined and fancy being bent round stock with a rubber cap. The YM is just a flat piece of steel that you use for the parking brake.

Yea that seat does appear taller than stock.
