Good luck with finding one. Maybe one could be fabricated.

I have to wonder if something else is wrong with the front drive? Everything in it appear tight, etc. Jacked up one wheel and rotateted just checking it out? .

Hello Winston1,

I raised the front end with the bucket so both wheels were off the ground. When I rotated a tire, both sides moved. I haven't tried just raising up one side. But, it moved smoothly with no noise or grinding. I also checked the shaft coming out of the tranny. It rotates in 4WD an does not in 2WD also with no noise or grinding. My hope is that someone got out on pavement or something similar, bound it up and broke the front shaft. Of course then just removed it.

Having one fabricated would be pretty difficult. Instead of U-jonts it has some sort of a two piece roller joint on it. The shaft is splined on one end and has half of this roller joint welded to the other end. I tried to attaching a picture of one that Hoye has made but not the correct size. My first attempt at attaching a picture so not sure it will come thru.

If that tractor was advertised as 4 wheel drive and is missing the front driveshaft I think you have legal grounds to return it to the seller or get a price adjustment - even if it is a private party.

It was a tractor left on a piece of property that was purchased by the person I bought it from. They never had it running and repeatedly told me they knew nothing about it. I think I know why now. Also have a Bill of Sale that states "as is". I got it pretty cheap but after purchasing a hydraulic pump and manual, depending on what a drive shaft costs if I can find one, the grand total might be more than it is worth.

I notice Hoye has a couple diffferent ones of those posted, assuming they are different. How can you tell they won't fit yours?

They were my first call after I found out I needed one. I was told that Yanmar made two sizes and they only re-manufacturer one size that is smaller than mine. You might be seeing different lengths, I believe my couplers are bigger than what they have.

This is the page I see showing two different ones, two different prices. Sort of confusing.
Yanmar Tractor Parts: Product Search

Well, it won't copy over but if you type in drive shaft in the search field, then scroll down they show two different ones.

Sent them an inquiry about the two shafts. I will let you know what the answer is. Thank you for your investigating, I had only had one come up for me.

I installed a couple of mirrors after fabricating brackets on my 1802. Pictures to follow. This will help from constantly turning around which incidentally pulls several muscles in my aged 46YO body!
