I'm impressed by his fabrication skills. I wonder how it will work when the grass gets thick again during the summer months? But even being able to cut dead material like that during the winter months is a win compared to manually operating a trimmer brush cutter.

I wish he'd join TBN as a member.
Well, I tried to invite Paul to our site through U-tube comments. I mentioned how impressed we are with his skills and extended the invitation. My comment was up for a few seconds and then it was gone. Maybe they dont allow that on U-tube. I will try again later and be more discreet.

I don't know what the rules are on youtube.

So are you tempted to try making a hydraulic cutter for yourself?

I have tried this as well, with other Utube postings. Sometimes, I just want to show the Utube member and other commentors a photo I have posted on TBN that directly addresses their issue. I mention "TractorByNet" without the ".com" in case URLs are blocked.

The guy, Cam, of TheGarageConnection on Utube has responded to a few of my comments, but has not joined TBN as far as I can tell. He does seem to be a FB user, but that site requires an acct to even see postings. Too bad, since he has a lot of followers and has done a good job. I want to support him, even if he has a commercial interest.

Yes, I want to try it, but not sure about the hydraulic motor. I don't have the skill, parts, tools or time to do what he did. Mine will be crude, more of a steppingstone or a learning experience. If it fails, no big deal.

Cam is quite the Entrepreneur. He saw an opportunity and he jumped on it fast.. I was amazed at how quickly he was able to start putting kits together and offering them for sale. I hope the economy holds together long enough for him to make some good money..

I'm wondering if Paul overbuilt his deck housing just to be sure that there was no way the hydraulics could tear the deck apart and have a spinning blade flying back at the operator?

i thought motors like this, that ran non stop generated some serious heat? I also see these cutting rigs on the highways, and they have large radiators on the hydro's with fans. curious to know what his hydro temps are

Probably was on his mind. I doubt that he makes any foolish mistakes. It's obvious he has been fabbing for a long time. I won't try the hydraulic motor until I know how much heat is produced on a 80* day.

Correct. That is a major concern, as well as the power needed. Our little single cylinder engines don't have much power to spare.

Well, maybe he will report that. In his video, you can see his blades stop when he operated a different valve. But he did a lot of feathering.

On my tractor, I use a small hyd motor to run a mixer on the FEL. Only at idle, since the long 1/4" hoses really can heat up the oil. I estimate at idle, I am getting 4 or 5GPM, which is about what the minis put out at speed with their 6.8cc pump. Gonna get Hot.
