I may name my stuff but I guess I never plan to keep things for a long time so they don’t get named, my trucks, cars etc. I do call them what they are like my JD tractor, white truck, blue truck etc.

I have a steer I have been thinking about keeping more long term, just ran with the one steer all this year, he’s not quite ready to butcher anyway and he keeps over an acre of ground at bay, it’s not all like a lawn right now.



I’ll tell you what, when I OWN my tractor and make the final payment, I’ll name it. Until then, the bank can still take her away from me.

I think the newer tractors with the larger front tires look kind of cartoonish like something off the movie Cars. We call ours Tonka and I’m not ashamed to say it!! Lol

I haven't read all the replies, and so maybe someone already said something like this, but I think it's dangerous to name a vehicle. It anthropomorphizes them...and then subsconsciously you think they care about not running over you or busting through a wall and chopping your leg off. They are humor-less pieces of metal that would feel the same about dismembering your family dog as they would running over a stump.

When I get my new Yanmar I plan to name it MaryAn, anagram of Yanmar.

I named my John Deere after myself by adding a K to the end to get John Deerek.

I named my Toyota Avalon Ava.

My 125cc pit bike is known as The Beast.

Absolutely. I wanted the larger front tires. I think it’s just the shorter wheelbase maybe that makes them have the bubbly appearance.

The tractor, of course, is Max. Suits him too.

The Jeep Cherokee is Boxy. Had an old green Volvo named The Green Machine. The BMW is Siegfried. The Saab has no name because she has no personality; just a perfectly running, perfectly reliable machine.

I name most of the critters who visit regularly. Skunks: Dash, Topknot, and Einstein. Squirrels: Milo, Spot, Split-Ear, Whitey, etc. Deer: Hurty-paw, Socks, Bucky.... Have a hamster named "Xena the Warrior Hamstress."

I do draw the line at naming string trimmers.

No tractor names here but 25 years ago on a crazy Kubota hunt through the mountains of New Hampshire, I came up with a name for a puppy that seemed to define naming. It was "Cubby" (Kubota) and that dog became one of the best dogs I ever owned.
