I had a tooth bar, but I didn't like it. I can spread dirt better without one. I use the backhoe to break up hard dirt. I took the tooth bar off, and I lost it in the woods. I also have a grapple to rip up roots and rocks.
It would seem to me that back dragging with the tooth bar would be easier if you have to smooth out an area. I could see taking it off for a final 'smoothing', but I've found that trying to back drag with big clumps and humps in the dirt just makes the bucket edge ride up the high spots. Granted, repeated dragging will eventually knock it down, but I would think it's faster if you have teeth. Either way, I'm going to give the Piranha a try if I can get one to fit my MF 2610 loader (left a message a few minutes ago on the BXpanded VM to discuss what can be had).
