What do you do with your Instant Pot you cant do with a crock pot?

^^ + stand alone use, not requiring a stove top.

We've held off buying one even though we use crock pots several times a week. The pressure cooker danger is in the back of our minds, and there are plenty of lawsuits piling up against these manufacturers. I'm sure they are safe if used according to instructions, but there's little room for error. A friend had theirs blow up in their kitchen and it was a mess, as you can imagine. Luckily no one was close to it so no injuries.
this is different technology than a pressure cooker, this don't require the weighted valve on the top to ensure safety..

I know it's different than a traditional pressure cooker, but it's still a pressure cooker. That's what's causing the pots to blow up. The vent being plugged from overfilling is the most likely cause to the explosions. The confusing part for users is the way the pot is marked. It has a maximum fill line, but that is not for pressure cooking. When pressure cooking, you are supposed to only fill the pot 1/2 to 2/3 full, not to the max line.
I'm not trying to be too critical of them, but just sharing some of the stuff I'm familiar with and learned from my family and friends who use them.

The max fill line is only if your using the “slow cooker” function.

Mine wasn’t either. She never liked pressure cookers and had her mind set against one. But some of her friends are now raving about them, so she changed her outlook.

The Instant Pot isn't grandma's pressure cooker.

The Instant Pot cookers work at 10 psi. The old stove top pressure cookers could easily get to twice that. On most, only the weighted vent kept them from over pressuring.
