First off...if the salesman says this is it...he's lieing to you!!

second..you state what your usage will be...then why not trim off some of the shopping list?
whats the LA2213 control valve for? The loader should complete wiht its own control valve..so why a second??
Loader bracket??
cutting edge? I know what they are used for...but still??
Pallet fork and loader bracket? Maybe get by with bolt on/strapon loader forks to do the same sort of work...LOTS cheaper for sure.
Over $1000 for a manual box blade is highway robbery. A 6 ft King Kutter ( may not be as good a brand..??...but I mean GEEZE?) can be got for $450! LOTS of difference.

Start whitteling down the list and get the tractor..with FEL priced out and you'll see him start changing his tune when he thinks the total TAB isnt going to be so high.. And when he FINALLY DOES come up with a new "out the door price"...then drop the bomb on himand tell him to cut it back a "tad more" ( anything is better than nothing)

These sales people arent your "best friend"...they make THEIR money by taking YOUR money away from you!! )</font>

Thanks for the info. Having no experience in buying tractors, this is what I'm afraid of.... I did a lot of reading here and arrive to the conclusion of brand/model I wanted. All I need is a tractor, FEL and box scrapper at the moment. I have no idea that the sales guy adding on all these bits and pieces and said it's necessary to make the tractor "useful". I'm hoping you experience folks would help me "cleanup" the shopping list and get only what's "really" neccessary. All these extra parts adds up the $$$.

Boy this has not been a good week for the sales guys around here. If he has been given a bottom line on what he can sell the tractor for then that's it. Sure he could sell it for less but then that could affect payroll, rent, buying power for new stock, Kubota fees, etc. But I agree comparing these prices to others around the country will drive you mad.

But have him explain each part. The control valve could be to add remotes to the tractor. I've heard they are much less when purchased with the tractor. The box blade does seem way to high.
The L2240 looks to be a 72" HD bucket for the loader. The price is the exact same as a Michigan dealer.

Ask for specifics and are there any other less nicer items. Do you research before you start looking around. This place is a goot start.

But Im not "funding" their company! My purchase price is what Im interested in...END OF SENTENCE.! If the salesman has to go to the head of the company to allow it to go for less $$...then he needs to get off his A$$ and go talk to the man. If "the man" says NO WAY...fine..no problem...I'll go somewhere ELSE.

In 40 years of buying ( fill in the bank) Ive never seen a salesman or dealership in ANYTHING...that wouldnt come down on their price. They arent about to give you the rock bottom dollar quote on the first pass...never happens!

When I dealt on my own Kubota...after 3 times at the dealership...I showed up with the wife and my "farmer buddy"...( who I had there with me on prior vists) and told the salesman to sharpen his pencil to the finest point he could get... He AGAIN..cut his price $350. When I meantioned I needed a ballast box because fo the loader...he threw that in for FREEBIES ( said it cost him $48..??)

After I took delivery I called a close friend who is a MANAGER at a Kubota dealership in a distant state...to find out how badly I got screwed. I got the rig for 10.4% OVER COST!!! And BTW..my friend said he wouldnt sell me on for that amount... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

he said the only thing "we" couldnt determine was the delivery charges on it. Evidently...from what my friend told me...some dealerships get FREE DELIVERY from Kubota..because of volumn of business...and smaller dealerships ( because of lower volumn) dont get that...

Im very satisified with my "deal" and with my B3030.

Yall must think I work for a dealer, own a dealer, best friend of a dealer, etc. Actually just an IT guy running the business for a small oil company. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some dealers start out high, then come down and let you think you are working them. Some start low and stay low, bottom line right off the bat. Think of Carmax and Saturn. The "car business" has us thinking that other sales items we can haggle on. Some business you can haggle a bit, some not. Most of us don't offer the Kroger $.90 for a $1.00 loaf od bread. But have no problem in beating a car salesman to death over some floor mats. Since I'm not in the business I don't know if tractors/ATVs/boats have the "hold back" that the autos have. I also have no idea what the actual costs of a tractor are. In your case Sully you said something like 10%. So on a $20,000 tractor the dealer makes $2000? I'm not a bean counter so I don't know how that looks. I do know at one of our refinerys we net about $10 per barrel of oil. Seems decent.

But there is a point where the dealer will have to say I can't go anymore. In the haggle process some may get to that sooner than others. Maybe that's one reason I never buy anything like a car, etc new again. To over priced. Also remember the dealer can set his bottom line...10%, 8% or 12%. If you don't like it you have to go elsewhere.

Also some may give you discounts on cash, If I charge my tractor on AMEX, they will pay a fee for that, cash no fee and maybe a 2-3% discount, whatever AMEX charges. Lots of angles to look at this. And of course after you fight for 4 hours (some just like to do that) you think you have a good deal then get ripped on your trade if you have one. My brother who use to sell cars would often make more money on used cars than new cars, low trade in and sell for 2-3 grand higher. And heaven forbid if they can in and wanted to trade a car they owed money on and were upside down on. He said on one car HE (average commssion low on the totem pole saleman) made $1800 on one deal. That doesn't include all the profit the dealer made!!!

I also find it interesting how some people are squeezing every cent out of a dealer but others are willing to pay more for a tractor because of the better service. Me?? I'll buy from the cheapest scumbag on earth, then find me a better dealer to service it if I need any warranty work. Another nice thing since I can do all my own repairs.

Gotta run, have a good weekend Sully!

Sully,
I bought the 3130 HST with the 723 loader, 2240 skid steer style quick attach bucket with bolt on edge for $20,175 + 8.3% Washington State sales tax. I thought the price was slightly high, but the dealer is less than 10 miles from my place. I was given a quote of $995 for the pallet fork.
