Sully2,

Calm down a little. Your comments are so far off base it's a wonder you are still standing.

Grand L series loaders are priced as the loader plus a joystick control plus the bucket plus an optional cutting edge. Same with the pallet fork and frame kit. It just so happens that his dealer called out each as a separate line item like it is shown in the price book, as opposed to just bundling them together like a lot of dealers commonly do.

Maybe if you would do a little homework instead of jumping in and criticizing you might feel a little bit better and gain some respect in the process. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The gentleman that started this thread..ALSO stated his plans on usage. The SALESMAN decided on his own to just "toss in a few things"...and that was simple to run the cost UP..period.

Look at the price on the box scraper...you think THAT is some kind of bargain???. And for your info the LOADER...BUCKET and JOYSTICK were also seperate items on MY tractor.

If cowing down to salesman..and it APPEARS must be your forte...then I dont want or need their respect.
AND I QUOTE:
"All I need is a tractor, FEL and box scrapper at the moment. I have no idea that the sales guy adding on all these bits and pieces and said it's necessary to make the tractor "useful". I'm hoping you experience folks would help me "cleanup" the shopping list and get only what's "really" neccessary. All these extra parts adds up the $$$. " END QUOTE

And based strictly on the gentlemans STATED USAGE of his potiential purchase..I'll stand by my statement...and partner..I most certainly dont need..want..or seek ANY SORT of approval by YOU! And I feel perfectly fine!

What I stated was that after I had made my deal..I found that I had BOUGHT my Kubota for 10.4 % OVER dealers cost...but that even a close friend said he wouldnt sell me one at that price. He said their USUAL deal was AT LEAST 16% ( and more..being "at least") over cost.

So if one rounds out the "at least"...that means it MAY go as high as 20%....which on a 20K tractor says "someone" is getting taken for $4000..

So now the dealers aren't allowed to make any profit? I guess 10.8% is not getting taken. Of course if the dealer sold you your tractor for 10.8% over cost then I guess he took you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Otherwise how coult he stay in business.

I think someone needs to point out that depending on the box blade $1000 quote may not be a bad price at all. Certain people think that all sales people are automatically out to get them and I will tell you that is just not the case. We carry 4 lines of box blades and if this customer came in and explained that his primary purpose for the tractor was to maintain a long road I would not recommend a $300 box blade but something much more substantial. Like a Woods commercial series that run up above $1000. And yes it is a manual box blade. I have seen many people make huge mistakes and investing thousands of dollars in equipment that just does not meet thier needs because they automatically think all "salesmen" are liars and everything else. Come in with an open mind. Ask the salesmen why they are recommending certain items. Many times the best dealer to work with is one that wants to ask questions and help you find the equipment that will accomplish the task you have rather than one that just throws a price at you when you say I want a 30hp tractor. We always ask what will you be doing with it and try to help the customer get the right equipment. After all unlike a car most of the people purchasing a tractor will have it for 20 - 30 years. Sully you probably won't belive a word of this and that is fine; I just felt that someone needed to let the stumpfield know that many boxblades are well over $1000 and he is not automatically getting screwed because of the price.
