What does a bale of straw go for in your area?

I hired some guys to work for me for a couple of days and they were telling me that if you bale hay and sit on it that come winter you can sell it for about $8 a bale. I'm wondering what you guys think? If I could get that kind of money I might be willing to plow up my field and start growing hay.

That depends on where you are. In NY (upstate) you could get 3-5 (depending on the quality) in the winter and 2-3 in the spring.

I just happened to buy a bale on Saturday. I had taken down the kids sandbox and had a 12' x 12' square to reseed. I paid $4.

I spread the straw out now the dogs think I've made them their own outdoor bed.
