What does FRS mean for radio?

Combo radio's also mean more than one thing. I have a "frs/gmrs" combo radio that is 15 channels. ALL channels are GMRS channels even tho it is sold as a combo.
The easy way to tell if you need a license. If the radio say gmrs/frs and has more than 14 channels then it needs a license.

Yes you need a license. I have reported a number of business to the FCC for using GMRS without a license. All have moved off gmrs.

I returned mine as they just did not suit my needs but the owners manual that came with mine was very clear that no license was required on the FMRS stations only on the GMRS. Mine were made by Midland. I don't see that it has any thing to do with the radio just the channel, but then I have been wrong before /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Dave

One thing to remember! You are supposed to know the rules. The maufacturer can provide information, but you are responsable, they are not. I don't believe manufaturer is responsable if they misinform you. Perhaps they should be, but good luck if that's your defense.

I dont need a defense. I used the GMRS stations with out a license to see if they worked. Ohhhh well. If I would have kept them I might have bought a license. I didnt really think about it that much. I think I drove over the speed limit when I went to try them out too. ooops /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Dave
speeding doesnt have a max fine of 10000 either.

Listen *****, I don't need a license cause I don't have a radio. So don't jump to conclusions.
