what does it mean being a "advertiser" member?

Advertising is not permitted in the discussion forums without prior permission from TBN. Those with the "advertiser" member title are paying for that permission, which of course keeps TBN free for the rest of us.

I'm taking this to mean we are correct in our assumptions, that United Hose is having posts and threads removed as it wishes. Which is fine by me, I just like to know how the game is played that's all. My participation on this board is voluntary, like you stated, it is free. There is a fine line between keeping advertisers happy, and the audience happy, which without, there are no advertisers. I'm sure everyone here will be pleased to know, that if you challenge an advertiser on their product or service, the post or thread can be removed.

Our posts are subject to the same guidelines as any other TBN member with no exception and no special "perks" here. Ken Sweet

Ken, I appreciate your participation here, as well as how you conduct yourself as an advertiser. But clearly you have no 'perks' because you have not sought any out, and your conduct here has not required that any 'perks' be bestowed on you without your asking. The same simply cannot be said across breadth of the TBN paid advertiser base, proven today for those who participated in and viewed a now vanished thread.

I have seen some posts on here regarding advertisers that as a casual observer I WANTED to have removed.

I think some of the TBN's get joy out of beating up the advertizers who help us have this forum for free.

Personally I wish Muhammad would delete a few of those MEMBERS......
They are just plain rude to the advertizers

yea i see all my posts as well as many others have dissapeared from unitedhose threads on premade hydraulic hoses, and adapters. i will admit that one post i made was a bit sarcastic and yes i dont have a problem with that one being deleted. however there was a good discusion going on among myself and several other members about adapters and there aplications, and issues, which i think if the advertiser would take as a bit of market feedback he would likely do better than simply trying to push his product and delete those who point out the issues with the plan. also there was an interesting discusion on why they claimed there hose was only good for ag machinery not construction machinery but he seemed to preffer to delete the threads rather than give an explanation. now i surely wouldnt buy from them! they wernt high on my list before but in cases where cheap hose is wanted, as some long medium pressure implement hoses etc, i might have tried but not with that kinda customer relations!

Some of you fellas must have extremely short memories as to what you posted before it was removed. There were comments about the integrity of the original poster, rude remarks towards the original poster and rude remarks referring to the morals of the moderators (who have ZERO to do with the business conducted at TBN).

Paying advertisers at TBN help to keep it free for the rest of us. If you do not care for the products they offer for sale, do not buy them. Pretty simple. You wouldn't walk into a store and start telling the other customers that they are selling products that you don't like and not expect to be told to leave the store, would you?

"There were comments about the integrity of the original poster"

well isnt this the whole idea of a discusion forum???? many folks asked direct questions about his product and pointed out the issues with some of the ways he was proposing, and he seemed very evasive and not all that knowledgable about hydraulics, leading one to believe he had more of a salesman background than a hydraulics background, which is why i questioned what previous hyd experience he had, he avoided the question, that coulda been a win for him had he handled it right not blown it off and deleted all the posts.

To answer the general questions first:

- The "Advertiser" title is an indication to both members and moderators that a poster is allowed to have a signature file with a commercial link, and within reason, post links or interact with members in the forums.

- Advertisers do NOT have any rights to remove posts or have them removed. We give the same consideration to removing a post regardless of whether a company is an advertiser or not.

- TBN members can post positive or negative opinions about companies or products regardless of whether the company in question is an advertiser. There are some limitations like not mentioning dealer names in dealer dispute discussions and of course libel isn't allowed. But things like "I don't like this product, think it's a stupid idea and would never buy it" is perfectly fine. :D

- If a member is argumentative, insulting or makes a statement that could be libelous, it's going to be removed just like any post... doesn't matter if they are talking about/to an advertiser or any other member.

- We have in the past "kicked out" advertisers who did not engage in good business practices. We have standards for our advertisers just like we have standards for our members.:)

In this particular case, the advertiser did NOT contact us or request that the posts be removed. The posts were removed because they contained content that wasn't appropriate for our forum (insults, accusations, etc). It looks like about 15 posts were removed... it's kind of like pruning a tree. Take one big branch down and a bunch of little ones have to go too even if they weren't bad on their own.

Hope this answers your questions.
