What Forum Software?

Hey Folks,

We're in the process of designing a website for a non-profit that I'm working for and we would like to implement a user forum. What software is TBN using? Is it working well? Easy to setup and administer? Would you recommend it (or any others)?

The software is a modified verson of vBulliten.

Go to www.vbulliten.com for more information. It is very popular software, most websites run it without the modifications that TBN has added as enhancements.

It's actually called vBulletin. Luckily for them, they bought the domain name vBulliten and have it re-routed to the correct domain.

Our experiences have been fairly good with vBulletin... we ran into a lot of issues with importing our data, but that was not entirely the fault of VB.

The software itself is basically the most comprehensive forum software out there, and has a long list of add-ons that are rather easy to install.

for out of the box use I really like communityserver. The product itself is not quite as developed as vBullitin, but it is free and includes blogs and photo galleries out of the box.

Yeah, communityserver is a neat product. We had to go with something that we were sure could handle 1 million+ posts. I think about 75% of the top 1,000 forums online use vBulletin now.
