I was wondering what grade gasoline you guys use in your Robin engines?

I use regular in my 422. 500 hours and no issues. Would high test give me more power?

I have used high test(93?) since the Farmall and the old pick up truck prefers it...no problems with either.

In ALL my engines, for as long as I can remember, High Test, currently 93 in N J.
I'll do almost anything to give me quick starts ! ! ! ! ?

Pequeajim asked #839418 :( Do you guys run regular or mid-grade in your Robin engines? )

Tracdoc replied:( Jim, per suggestion of Jack Robin in an older thread, I have been using premium (aka hi test) fuel plus a dose of lead substitute in my Robin engine. That cocktail was recommended to reduce the shutdown detonation. Didn't seem to do squat for that, but the engine has always run very well with that regimen..... ) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I use 87 which is just regular unleaded here in OK.
I only have about 60 hrs on my 425 but have had no problems, I do have a little bit of a hard time starting if it is below about 20 or 25 degrees Farenheit. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif But thankfully that doesn't happen for any great length of time here. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif at least not very often.

Been using 91 octane which is the highest we can get here in northern CA. Started using it early on to stop the "run-on" and backfires but I don't think it really helped much, if any.

Since I prefer to take my cans to be filled in the back of my pickup, and since that pickup has a chip and requires higher octane, it also makes it more convenient to fill the cans then continue on to put gas in the truck. Taking the cans to be filled in our SUV makes for unpleasant fumes inside.

Like Moss, I run 87 in my Kohler without problems.
