I bought some D con to put in my barn, when I opened the package I expected to see the little blue pellets but no, there is a little cube inside a clear plastic box with openings. Anyway, I had it in the barn for over 2 weeks and they never touched it. I was still seeing evidence of mice so I set 2 traps with peanut butter, next morning both traps had dead mice, set them again and got another one and another one the following day. I have been to 3 different places and all I can find is this new "cube" stuff, including Tomcat brand. I am thinking this is some new "eco-friendly" formula but it didn't work for me. I'll stick to traps I guess, besides you get to see the carcass and you know you got 'em.

You can't use D con. It kills mice. :confused2:

Seems like every season when we order bait poison for the Orchard's rodent control program we have been getting something different from our supplier. Mostly bagged pellets but one time it was the cubes, and was my boss peeved but this year we are back to pellets again and they are coming in a plastic lidded pail now. We usually get about 500lbs

There are numerous bait station boxes to use, but nothing beats the good old spring trap. Used to always use PB too but it is amazing how they can sometimes clean off the peanut butter without tripping the trap. The new fool proof method my boss insist upon now is super gluing a pumpkin seed to the trap!

I wonder when they changed. Last box i put out had the blue pellets. Maybe the new version is to make it less interesting to children and pets.

I'll keep looking for the pellets, I like to put them in my 5th wheel for the winter and in the back of my outdoor boiler to keep them from chewing the insulation. I think the new version is also less interesting to mice.

I've tried to mostly avoid pellets or other poisons. Even though I've put out the pellets well away from the house, the mice seem to migrate into the walls or other inaccessible places and die off. My other concern is that they carry the pellets off from the bait location and stash them at nesting areas. I've found a couple places of stashed pellets that conceivably could have gotten flooded with rain water and possibly been carried into a the water supply. Snap traps have been the best solution for me.

A friend on Facebook posted this idea to catch mice. I have yet to try it......

Plastic bottle is covered with peanut butter and can spin freely on the coat hanger wire.

I wish I knew. I bought all I could when I saw places not stocking them. imo it's the only thing that works.

What we know and love as D Con went out of production in March of 2015.

Send your thanks to DC.

Gee I am so glad our government is taking care of us.:muttering:
