What happened to Massey Ferguson?

Greetings All!
Just a general topic question:
With all the tractor talk and newer brands, rebranding, emerging models and buyouts, where is Massey Ferguson in all this? I never see reviews, or comparisons including MF. Are they a "has been" brand now? Do they fail the current markets? Poor dealer support? Overpriced?

Just curious why I don't find any sizeable quantity of info about them.
Love my 1726E. I purchased after the Easter 2020 tornado.

Kubota turns pink, too.

What’s weird is I only saw 2 brands mowing roadsides around here up till about 5 years ago

New Holland and Challenger. Challenger is just a Massey with a CAT/Perkins diesel and a little different cab roof/windshield and CAT yellow paint.

Now Challenger is gone, so that has changed. I still see a lot of New Hollands, but the Challengers have been replaced mostly with lowend economy Deeres.
The vast majority of road-side mowers I see are New Holland. However, for the non-contracted portion of interstate mowing my state does (NH), they have been buying Kubota for 10 years now.

Kubota sells the most compact tractors in the US. In my opinion, the Deere compacts aren't that great, most are not made in the USA, and cost the most. Dealer support is probably the best though. I hate how all the independent JD dealers are gone now, and they are all some giant dealer (United Turf and Ag up here in New England).

I've also noticed Kubota is partnered with Versatile tractor of Canada now, so the Kubota M8 - really just a customized Versatile Nemesis - can be had with a 200HP 6.7L Cummins and a ZF made Powershift or a Kubota made KVT / CVT transmission. Kubota, through its purchase of Great Plains, is offering big tillage equipment and high quality hay equipment with its purchase of Kverneland, but needs a bigger tractor. The rumor is that Kubota will likely purchase Versatile in order to have exclusive access to its larger tractors, and the Cummins engines will be replaced with Kubota-made diesels and transmissions.

Agree, but if Kubota drops the Cummins, 50% of it’s buyers will drop, too. Keeping that Cummins engine excites a LOT of farmers. Me included.

I once had a Massey 135. I used it for bush hogging and hay baling. I was unable to do the latter for long because the hitch frame kept falling off. It was bolted to the transmission housing and the bolts loosened. Lock-Tite did not stop it. Eventually the bolt holes stripped out, and I could not keep the hitch on. I got rid of it and replaced it with a Ford 4000 series. That proved reasonably reliable; it finally would not run properly when it got to 6000 hours. I don't do hay any more. I presently use a Mahindra 5035HST. It is similar in size, power and weight to the previous 2, but is 4WD and is fairly nimble in the woods.

Hard to believe that you can't find anything on Massey Ferguson. When I started looking for a cab tractor two years ago, I thought I wanted Kubota, but it didn't take me long to learn about Massey Ferguson, and that they had totally rebuilt their tractor line from the ground up, including new factories to build them in Brazil instead of China. YouTube has some great videos comparing Massey to other brands, but also just showing all the features that are included with the Massey over the other brands.

I bought a brand new Massey Ferguson 4707 cabbed 4x4 tractor for $55,000 financed over 7 years with zero percent interest. It would of been $3,000 less if I paid interest on the loan, but that would of been more money over the length of the loan. My payments are $663 a month with nothing down.
would have, not would of. (The contraction is "would've")

I like the big "C" on the side of anything motorized, including trucks. However, Kubota diesels are generally excellent, and Cummins isn't perfect. My 2019 RAM 3500 with the HO Cummins is apparently subject to an impending recall due to an emissions "cheat" device. And this is after the recall to replace the crappy Bosch CP4 high pressure pump with a revised CP3 pump.

Yeah, but dive deeply into those 2 things you dislike. Cummins didn’t build the (Bosch) pump and the emissions defeating “device” IMO, is a result of emissions standards that are just too close to perfection.
They will all get caught, eventually just like VW & Cummins.

I’d still take a Cummins over a Kubota diesel any day. ;)
