I see most of the 'old timers' are on this thread. Only one I haven't seen is Bird.

We need just an old timers thread I'd say???

Being on the younger edge of old timers.... I'd probably say no to an old timer's only thread. As a kid, I enjoyed talking to old timers for the history, experience, and advice. I say "talking to" because I want to interact. I don't want to be lectured to.

Case in point. At my last job of 30 years, I had a woman as my first boss. She was great. Years go by, our careers cross and part several times, but we converse daily. She decides to retire about 20 years into it. So at one of our last conversations, I mention that while I really do enjoy working with the now much younger "kids" they hired, the young people kind of annoy me sometimes. And I asked, "Did I annoy you that much when I was young?"

To which she replied, "You still do!"

I was shocked!

Then she laughed hard and walked away. But I get it. :)

I could see that

We never could have imagined ...

:D

Not now. But when I first arrived on TBN a PowerTrac was the only alternative that any reasonable landowner should ever buy. They had made real tractors obsolete. Per certain enthusiasts .... :D

I ignored that heartfelt advice and bought a Yanmar instead.

That advice sounds awfully familiar?? Hmmmmmm...?

Being retired from my day job for about 10 years now, the only woman I work for is my wife and she's a slave driver.....lol One thing about retirement I like is, now I can actually farm without having to worry about working a day job to make ends meet. If they don't meet (ends), I just borrow some money from my boss.

When my wife and I go to pay for something at a store, one of us usually asks the other "Are you buying?" Whichever one of us says "Yes", the other says "Thanks!" rather enthusiastically. It makes the clerk think we're being nice to each other. :)

All that really means, though, is who has the task of reaching for their wallet, as it all comes out of the same pot.
