A heads up for everyone:

Today, I realized that my hydraulic quick connects on my GC, FEL had completely seized up. The rings you pull to release them, would not move.

After repeated lubrication, and some persuasion with channel locks, I was able to free them up.

This was an extreme case, since I had not removed them since new. But, this tractor has also been inside, so that was unexpected.

If you don't occasionally remove them, I suggest giving those rings are few turns to make sure they are staying free, be added to your maintenance check list.

Thanks for this tip. I haven't removed my FEL yet but did disconnect one of the fittings. I find the springs on these fittings are really strong and not that easy to remove.

Worthy tip. Man, I'm hurting today because of those FEL connects (and I gotta go mow today, fargg)! I hurt my back a few days back, but was finally doing ok yesterday, so decided to clean up/dethatch my lawn. I took the loader off, hooked up the dethatcher, everything was going great. All done, so I was hooking the loader back on, struggling with those quick connects while bending over and all contorted...bam, re-injured my back.

I don't dismount my loader too often, but am strongly considering redoing that setup there. It would be easier to connect the lines if they were loose like for the backhoe, as opposed to connected to the bracket there.

I mount/dismount mine often so have kept up on this, but for those that don't its good idea to check them.

Speaking of which... My 2310 has completed its transformation from snow-blowing duty (finally!) to TLB set-up. Trying to get rid of a butternut log that's been sitting for 4 years. Man, that thing is HEAVY!! I'm having to cut from both sides with a chainsaw as much as I can, then use the tractor & a chain to roll it a bit so I can get to the other side to complete the cuts (about 14" thick). The log is about 30" in diameter.

Then use the BH to lift those cuts ("rounds" I think they're called) --about 150 lbs each-- to transport to a bank and roll 'em down. Hate to create my own "stump dump" like that, but there's already quite a few downed trees (quite old) there and our local landfill wants $110 EACH LOAD to dispose of them that way and I figure I'd have five loads in my little trailer before getting it all. No, thanks. Using a splitter to process for firewood? Good idea and that's what I wanted to do, but there's no way I can handle rounds that big.

When that's done, then I get to attack the blower to replace the gearbox seals... then, maybe, I can get the MMM out and get that put on....

PS: note the two rounds in the FEL.... found I needed that to keep the front wheels on the ground when lifting those cut-offs!

We get that.

The burning question we are all wondering is, why are those chain hooks blue?

He'll I like it. Easy to find the hook. I paint stuff safety yellow all the time for this reason.

Meanwhile, had to talk myself into using my 2 month old GC for this purpose. Then I thought, why TF wouldn't I? 🤪 Saved my back!
