I can't answer the other questions, and I don't have a backhoe on mine, not worth the extra $$ for something that I'd rarely use. But for this I'd likely us some lengths of 2x8 or 2x10 to increase the surface area when dealing with soft ground.
- These outrigger pads dig in badly in soft ground. What are the upgrade options?
Thanks. I have the big welder, just need to know what works best. Has the be the cheapest OR pad out there, hence the price point. I'm thinking a little bigger and the flip over kind like you mention. The older 1720 I have has a two sided outrigger pad, one side has "teeth" to dig in a bit.
Not prefect but better than the flat side, which is more for on solid surfaces.
Maybe Take your pad to someone with a big welder and the can add something?
From my GC1720. The spikes are not long, would worry about them putting on too much side stress if much longer.Thanks. I have the big welder, just need to know what works best. When I bought my first GC Massey I was going to get the mulching deck. What's up guys, so does anybody use the 54" mulching deck? I think it's p/n MF2315.
Strange that I hardly see any reviews about it anywhere, no youtube vids either.
I totally hear ya on the 60", the MF2326. I had that deck, sold it last spring. When I bought my first GC Massey I was going to get the mulching deck.
The sales guy, who I knew from High School, convinced me not to.
The had sold a few of them and nobody was really happy with them.
I forget what the problems were. With the 60" deck I do have I'm not totally pleased either.
Does a nice level cut and all that. However if the grass is taller it does tend to leave a hay row if you don't lift the shield.
Then I have to drive around with the grass catcher and that fills up in no time even though mine is a "commercial" size.
