If the construction of the house/buildings will be started soon, I say just mow it with a rough cut mower.
If you work the ground up now, when it rains or snow melts, the ground will turn to mud. The deeper the ground gets tilled, the deeper the mud.
Wet ground with cornstalks on it is much firmer than worked up ground.
