What Implement would you use to clean up these ruts?

Try discing the whole area along with back dragging bigger holes with the bucket.

Harley rake. It would fill, smooth, and level the ruts in one pass - and would leave the surface ready for seeding.

I agree, but a Harley rake is expensive and many times not available to rent within a reasonable distance.

Back dragging is not going to fill in those ruts. It will help to smooth them out somewhat, but nothing is going to fill them in where the ground has been compacted by whatever had been driven through there.

I would likely use my rake to even things out and then back drag with the bucket.

Are you looking to purchase an implement, or do you have several to choose from? How smooth of a finish are you looking for? Do you want to have it be a nice mowed lawn, pasture, or? :confused3:

This is a pasture, I want to remove the ruts to improve the appearance and make this section more navigable for the tractor and UTV. For this application, the only implement I have is a box blade. I was hoping to use this or perhaps renting something along with the FEL to clean it up.

I'd just back drag-em. Not worth the hassle of hooking anything else up. If I had an extensive area rutted like that I might drag harrow or combo disk and drag harrow.

holy moly - first of all don't try to do anything until its DRY - and I mean DRY - not kinda dry and not, well I thot it was dry - you will just make more of a mess - Box Blade with shanks will take care of it - if you don't have a box blade then as so many have already said, loader work forward and back, it will take more time and put more of a crook in your neck but you can do it that way too. me personally I would use my tooth bucket on my SS. and again did I mention make sure its REALLY DRY!!!!

I have a very acceptable "drag" that I made out of 4" x 4" posts. Joined four into a square - drove huge nails down thru the front &View attachment 564304 rear post - cross-brace with plywood - rope bridal - drag it on plowed ground with my ATV. Cost - dam near zero - made from salvaged fence posts.

Its not really beautiful but it does smooth out the ground, break up clods and raise a lot of dust. Something like this behind your UTV should handle the job.
