For me the necessaries are a mower (MMM, RFM or just a standalone ZTR/rider, depending on tractor size), a FEL (I didn't think so with my small property at first, but it's certainly proven its worth), tiller (works wonders on my small field, but may not be appropriate for larger fields), and wood
chipper (my lot is mostly wooded). Other basics in my mind would be a front blade (or snow thrower) if you're in a snow zone, a 2" hitch adapter if you've got any trailers, a rough rotary cutter, a box blade for grading, maybe a sprayer and seeder for the lawn (again, my 2520 does double duty as a lawn mower and tractor so a big boy tractor would have different needs).
Nice-to-haves for me are backhoes, trenchers, rock hounds, PTO generators, and all sorts of things I have to buy lots of flowers to get permission to buy...
