What is a good long term weather radar prediction site?

I make great use of weather radar for planning projects. I know it is not precise and things change but I'd like to find on that "predicts" the farthest out in the future.

Like at this time I'm trying to plan a trip to NE Mississippi and avoid heavy rain from Alberto.

This one does 72 hours. Anyone know of one that does more?

LOL, Predicting the weather is akin to pick lottery numbers 1 out of 1millon meteorologist might get it right .

Radar is only going to give you current conditions and the forecast radars are not reliable . Mississippi has no real impact from alberto and likley wont see any major rain . We are in the south so it can rain anytime in the afternoon anyday of the week.

Edit: This is a weather forecast, NOT a future radar imagery "forecast". Sorry if its not what you want. I don't think extended hour by hour, mapped location by location predictions are possible too far into the future.

Future radar is pretty poor in accuracy. Especially for pop-up type thunderstorms. I typically just stick with weather.com or similar. use the hourly forecast to see about when the rain could occur, and use the future radar for a 2-3 hour window, tops. Anything beyond that is pretty much just a weird guess by a computer model.

There are other websites that show weather and moving wind speed/direction. They certainly help one visualize the weather. I looked at the link and they don't say which weather model they are using. I am assuming the US model since it is free. The other weather model people use is the European model but I do not know of a way to access that data.

Here is a screen shot of the same weather pattern, though the timing might be off by a few hours since it is not dynamic. Not sure the Ventusky view is really current time. The little arrows are the wind direction and speed. The more "flags" on the arrows the faster the wind.



The second screen shot is from a program called ViewFax which pulls in the US weather model. It will show weather out to 10 days but after 3-4 days it really starts to be more of a guesstimate.

Just because one of the weather models says something will happen, does not mean it will. A weather model that seems to have quite a bit of precision does not mean the weather prediction will be precise. If I really want to know, or have a chance at knowing the weather, I read the real professionals at NOAA. National Weather Service. They use models plus their experience to make their weather guesses. Here is a link to their short and long term forecasts, National Forecast Maps

You can go to NOAA and enter a city to get an up to the minute report and future forcast.
I found a NOAA site that gives info on an Air Park about 8 miles away for my local radar viewing.

I use Weather Underground. It checks all the boxes you want. Shows current radar with movement, and forecasts 10 days out, by the hour. Can also be customized for different conditions such as wind, humidity, etc. It uses weather stations that private individuals have set up and relays info. I have found it to be very reliable.

Not a weather radar weather site - BUT... Farmer's Almanac does an amazing job of predicting general weather conditions. And they do it a year in advance. How they can be so close to accurate scares me. Heck - they're usually closer than those 'meteorologist' on TV.

But, for my daily use, I use Intellicast.com

Any "radar" that is showing a target that is not really there (yet) is just showing a computer generated model...kind of silly IMO...
WX radar is a great tool but in reality it can only show you something that presently actually exists in real time...

+1 on Weather Underground. Their site went through an "upgrade" about a year ago, and it has been slower since then, and they moved the 10-day forecast to a separate tab (which I don't like), but it is still the best out there in my experience.

I tried Weather Underground, but my anti virus software kept getting hits from there, so I quite using them. I was happy with Accuweather until last month when they started asking me to open up my settings, which I refuse to do, so I'm not trying The Weather Channel. So far, I like it.

I used to use NOAA, until they added so much junk you need to go through just to get the weather. Since then I've gone to intellicast; yet sometimes I think their default plan is to check the competition's forecast then change their's to match.

I depend on weather forecasts an awful lot. I ENJOY riding my BMWR1200GSA in GOOD weather. So I have two sources I rely on - Weather Underground and on my iMac home page - High Sierra - there is a small icon - immediately to the right of Siri - that stores and will report the weather on 48 towns, I have chosen - all the way from the OR/WA border to the WA/Canada border here in Ea WA. Click on that one little icon and instantly see the current WX in all 48 towns. I really don't give a rats rear about long range - about 90% of all my riding is a dawn to dusk situation.

The title of this thread is kind of at odds with itself. How can - good, long term and prediction all be related to weather. If you need good - go stand out in your yard - what is the weather like - well that's a GOOD analysis.

Something to consider is the fact that all the WX sites use the same satellite data that are operated by the NWS / NOAA...

Also in most major markets the local TV stations invest large sums of money in state of the art radar systems...

What I like best about the NWS site is they update hourly....National Weather Service

Another thing I like about the NWS site is there are only a couple of administrative scripts running on the site(s)...unlike the majority of the commercial sites mentioned in this thread than have dozens of scripts running on their sites that do nothing but collect user information from phones or computers...
