What is a Shutter Plate Kit ?????

I just downloaded the parts manual for the BX22 backhoe and the very last item in the list of parts is a "Shutter Plate Kit". I looked at the pictures and I have no idea what this item is or what it does. Can someone shed some light on this mystery. I found this because I was trying to establish if the flip over pads for the stabilizers were sold as a pair or each. Didn't find the pads even listed. Thanks the Junkman

I don't know but could it be a shutter for the rad to control the amount of air flowing through the radiator. I've seen these on heavy trucks and tractors.

As far as pads for your stabilizers, you might want to go to the internet and search "Google" for stabilizer pads. I got a really nice set some years ago from a Florida construction parts supplier at a really good price.

As far as a shutter plate, I'd think it goes on a 35mm camera!!

My guess it mounts between tractor trans and foot rest to keep hot air from trans blowing on your feet/legs!!

I looked at the parts manual, and it looks likes a plate that covers the opening between the foot rest and the tractor. Can't see much value to it other than it might help deflect some heat or just keep you from getting a foot caught in the opening. Tried looking up the part number on tractorsmart.com but it wasn't listed.

If your looking for the plain steel stabilizer pads that come standard with the hoe, the PN is 75598-53300. Tractorsmart lists them at $130 each. I don't see the other type of pads (for pavement/concrete) listed in the manual either. The dealer showed them to me in the price book quite a while back, and it seems like these pads were around 100+ bucks each as well --pricey!.

That is what I thought about the "shutter plate". I think that it is a translation discrepancy between Kubota Japan and Kubota US. The manuals are printed here, but I believe that they are written and translated in Japan. After looking at the pictures on the website again, I think that the purpose of the kit is to protect the hoses from damage. Just for the heck of it, I will call the dealer tomorrow and check on the price of the kit...
The flip over pads are $92 each as listed on my invoice. I was just wondering if the dealer made a mistake when they charged me for two. Even though they cost $184 for the pair before discount, I think that in my case they are well worth the expense. I don't want to tear up the driveway again the way that I did with the old Moline backhoe.

The shutter plate prevents you from shuttering when your shin bangs and scrapes through the hole you just fell through /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I finally got an answer from Kubota today and that is exactly what they said.... it is to keep your feet from getting overheated when using the backhoe in hot weather and the cooling fan was blowing the hot air at the back of your feet.... I haven't noticed enough heat from the hydro to make a differance... must be a Southern accessory..... LOL.....

It take me about a hour to mow my grass, the trans does get very warm/hot. I can see the need for the shutter plate.
