Seriously though, if you're wanting something that cuts the time down and a ZTR isn't an option, then you're only other choice is running a bigger deck. I gave $6K for my 2008 F2880 with 2500 hrs on it, and I had to do some work to the back end. If I would have paid a dealer to do it, it would have probably cost me around $1k. My deck is only 72", but they have NO problems running an 84" deck at speed. The other option is a CUT or utility tractor with a belly mower or a 3 point finish mower.
If you look, you can find used stuff at a somewhat reasonable price. I bought a 2008 New Holland TC40DA in Jan for $17k because my old 1710 gave out on me. Transport cost from Arkansas to Indiana was around $1100. The cab was NICE for plowing snow, and the AC is even better for working in the summer. 40hp machines seem to fall into a crack where they are either bigger than most people want, or too small for farmers to mess with. There were several other TC40s of similar vintage and hours that were in the $12k-$16k price range, but this was the only one with a cab (DA model). There were also some 30-35hp machines available in that price range.
