It's about 6 inches across and 7 inches high.

Look at the top center of the photo on<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.seasonedwithlove.com/mortar_and_pestle.htm> this </A>page. I remember seeing a silhouette of this on pharmacy signs.

Mike,

Does it have a rounded or flat bottom on the inside? If it's rounded, it's likely to be a mortar re mortar and pestle.

The bottom on the inside is flat.

Buck

Couldn't find anything on that link.

Maybe I was looking at it upside down /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Well that kinda shoots the mortar & pestle theory. Any gravesites nearby?

How about the grease cap for the hub of an old wagon wheel.

About 5 pounds.

Buck,

You need to add an "l" to the end of that link. I think Harv is right, also.

Click <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.4wdonline.com/Equip/winches.html>here</A> for the site referenced.

I was down to my folks house (in northern PA) this weekend and guess what was on their shelf? I borrowed it for a few picts. I know you said you item has a flat bottom on the inisde but hits looks pretty darn close (and yes, it has a rounded bottom).

OK, so it is a little more ornate. Maybe you have a cast iron flower pot?

Andy, I think that's what mine is, a long ago discarded flower pot.

Man I don't know what it is but I know someone who could find a use for it.

Check out what I did with some <A target="_blank" HREF=http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/wroughtnharv/vwp?.dir=/The+Dome+aka+labor+of+love&.src=ph&.dnm=adios+dome.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/wroughtnharv/lst%3f%26.dir=/The%2bDome%2baka%2blabor%2bof%2blove%26.src=ph%26.view=t>inch and quarter pipe, six inch pipe, and the vase shaped part of an old hand pump.</A>

That top piece on top of the dome as an assembly of just those parts and some half inch flame cut spacers. That "one god" symbol on top sits like a weather vane spinning around with the wind on top of the assembly.

In my country gate album there's a picture of the Tarabella gate. If you look closely at the top of the gate post you can see what happens when enthusiasm crashes into fertile mind and some John Deere disc spacers are nearby.

A cylinder, with a bottom, slightly conical, rolled edge......

My God, it's the Holy Grail! Lost these many centuries, only to be discovered at last in the least likely of places!

Run, man! If Steven Spielberg knows what he's talking about, the Nazis will be at your door any moment!
