What is Kubota doing about the broken plastic fenders?

"I am a bit confused about the tone here? Other than a cracking fender there is not much to complain about with the new BX's. With the old ones it was an air filter strap and a crappy hood latch, now its a fender - which is being fixed. Its been a really good machine in my mind."

1) Reverse is so abrupt that you can pull the front end off the ground if you release it too quickly. Not as bad with a FEL, but on a steep hill it can be unsafe.
2) Crappy hood release-still not fixed.
3) Air screen or battery screen-what ever it is-the big one in front of your knees will not fit flush. Very tempted to duck tape the screen to the tractor-that will look professional won't it?
4) Cracked fender on left side.
I never had a single problem with my L3010. Kubota owners expect more-and this should be interpreted as a good thing. But in response the expectation has to be met.

I think the bulk of your issues are the fact that you went from a 3010 to a BX. No subcompact is going to feel like an L-series tractor. There is some substance to your complaints, particularly the screen infront of the battery - thats my biggest complaint. We've been after Kubota on that one and I'm not sure if thats going to be addressed.

Messick,

The battery cover fit is terrible on mine too, but I bought a tractor not a luxury sedan. The fender breaking out from under you and very savage reverse stop are very serious safety issues. Just so you know I have been running Kubota equipment for about 20 years so I am no stranger to how it should operate. My dealer has verified the mower issue, fender issue, reverse issue not just on mine on every one on the lot. The field rep in my area agrees with the problems also. Safety has nothing to do with what machine you had previously. As I said before I expect Kubota will make it right. I can tell you that the improved BX has many great features which is why traded the BX1500 rather than adding the loader to it. The mower and reverse issues are a step backward. By the way I have the 54" mower.

This is my fix to the mower issue. The top hole keeps the deck too high and the bottom hole keeps the wheels off the floor, the added hole gives the mower 1/2" clearance to the floor and it will roll out with out jacking the tractor up.

I did forget another issue with the new BX. The snowblower chute crank mount does not allow you to turn the crank unless the lever is in the float position.

And my solution to that crappy piece of engineering.

Sounds like Kubota has some real quality issues here. I had thought about trading up when the new L was released.Maybe the old model would be best. Sounds like the older machines were beter designed and less plastic. The plastic bothers me with my B3030. I'm afraid it wont last.Nothing like old iorn.

I own a BX2200 and I agree with Buster57. The BX is a very capable machine but there are far too many quality/design issues. Here is my list, most are not major problems but a few are:

The air cleaner bracket breaking (no fix.. new design bracket also breaks).
Hood latch (hood pops open).
Leaking fuel tank (fixed with gasket kit).
Defective switches that cause the flashers to activate when the dash gets wet (no fix).
The tire rubbing on the 60 inch MMM (No fix).
Left rear anti-scalp roller that won’t rotate 90 degrees because it hits the tire.
The anti-scalp rollers without bearings. Fixed in later BX models but the zerk fittings pull out.
Hydro pedal sticks. No fix but later models use forward/reverse pedals that give you whiplash.
Parking brake does not hold securely on hills (No fix)

The existence of these quality/design issues are very surprising to me. Most Japanese companies are known for their strict adherence to quality processes (Deming??). Evidently Kubota is the exception .

I believe the panels under the steering wheel have been redesigned as well. Each panel has long tabs to fit inside the center pillar. These tabs have been elongated for a snug fit when the dial is fastened at the top center. This should eliminate the bowing problem that I have on my tractor. I realize this is a first production of this model and it will have some kinks however I am confident in the folks at Kubota that they will make it right. They seem to in every instance that I have encountered. My dealer has also been very helpful in understanding my problems and working with me and Kubota I am sure all problems will be solved in due time.

No idea what youre talking about. I've removed my deck a dozen times for cleaning/blade sharpening...never had to jack up or lift my tractor do do it, and I have the new BX2350. You do have to wiggle the deck on the way out, but it's certainly not an inconvenience.

As a previous owner of a BX2200, I think that overall the BX2350 is a big improvement over an already excellent product. The hood latch is much better...take a really good look. (some tractors have no latch at all)

I drove a JD 2305, it also had a very abrupt reverse...I think the manufacturers are doing this on purpose...why I have no idea, but it must be due to some litigation.

The cracking fenders I have not experienced yet, but I'm hearing everywhere that they are standing behind it and improving it for the future, which is as much as anyone can expect.

If the fender issue is the only major thing that comes up, I'll be a happy guy. As far as fit and finish...while I understand to a point, this is mainly a tool for me...not a Lexus.

Read on back; I have an 1850 which has shorter tires. Both models share the same mower now. I'm sure it will clear the frame on a 2350 due to the taller tires.
