What is my 4720 (open cab) worth?
115 hours
1 year old
400x loader
standard bucket
canopy
MX-6
Frontier boxblade
rear valve
auto cruise
imatch

I want to upgrade to a cab and a buddy needs a tractor - I want to make it an all around fair deal for both of us. How much of a hit am I going to take ya think?

Thanks,
D.

400x, MX6, and BB will all work with new cab model.

Tractor alone - 29K list.
Figure 20-25% discount for hours and friendship maybe?
Call it 23.8K

For attachments - 25-50% off would be fair.
Add $3500 for loader, $1500 for MX6, $250 for canopy, $750 forboxblade, $200 Imatch and cruise. So add on $6200.

$30K sounds fair.

Total guess by me in all of this. FWIW.

I agree with BloomingtonMike. Somewhere around 29-30 K would be fair. That tractor is relatively new with only 115 hours.

Just for the tractor and FEL, you'd be lucky to get $26,000.

My dealer is saying $22,500 on the 4720 with 400X and bucket. Seems kinda low to me. I paid $27,884 a year ago. Maybe a 20% hit is about rigth...

Why take the hit on all the attachments? Won't you need them for the cab model?

The first year on a tractor is always the biggest depreciation. That is why many folks like to find a 1-3 year old machine.

Was your dealer quoting trade in dollars? I don't think he was too far off the mark. I've been stuck in the wanna-move-up-but-can't-afford-it doldrums before.
I have to say that I sometimes surprise myself with how much I can get done on my little 4310. My barn contractor said "Y'all sure have some nice equipment"(looking at our 5420, 4310 and gator. I replied, "You like that 4WD 5420?" He said, "I really like that 4310, Shoot, it has 4WD and hydrostatic, I bet I could really get some work done with that!"

Made me feel better about keeping it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would agree with your dealer and Billy. Why would a person buy used when for a couple thousand more they can buy brand new? I would say a 20% hit to sell it to a friend and probably 15% or more selling it outright.

Yeah, who knows. Screw it, I might just finish paying it off and keep an eye out for another cab tractor. As hot as it is getting down here - cabs are no brainers.

That's what I would do. After a couple years you won't lose hardly anything on that tractor and you will have gotten your 20-30% use out of it. Right now if you trade you are just losing money big time. Yes it's still like new but it's too much like new that a brand new one isn't much more than it's worth it to you to trade. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif In a couple years you'll probably get the same amount for it and will probably have gotten some good use out of it by then and it will be used.
