Loader WHAT IS QUICK ABOUT QUICK COUPLINGS?

/ WHAT IS QUICK ABOUT QUICK COUPLINGS? #31
The average CUT buyer will not dismount their loader. So MFGs typically skip the added expense of a single point hookup.
Plus, let's say you change from a loader that uses 4 connections to a front snowblower that has manual (or electric) rotation for the chute, that will only need 2 connections.
Do you still use a 4 connection adapter that needs to have 2 ports plugged, or do they need to make the adapter that can use either 2 or 4 ports on the implement side?

Put the dust caps on the female couplings after disconnecting the hoses. I wrap shop towels around the male couplings. I keep a squeeze bottle filled with hydraulic fluid in the tool box on the tractor to lubricate the couplings prior to reconnecting the hoses.

Good luck

Connect Under Pressure Couplings | MRO Stop Technology

Above links are some info on coupling under pressure. They are not cheap. :)

This is a design and patent that I and a couple fellow engineers worked on and applied for a patent back in 2011 prior to my retirement. It is a method to circumvent the problems of leakage and contamination of coupler tips when an implement is disconnected from the tractor.

It was an interesting project where we developed, using 3D design and rapid prototyping (3D printing), the profile for the resilient receptacles into which the male tips are plugged. The design contains a receptacle to catch any leakage from the hose tips rather than let it drip to the ground. (EPA)

This is probably not of interest to many but thought is was applicable to the thread subject.

First, a question. When you take the loader off are you letting the parking stand travel all the way back so that the loader clamps close by them selves? If not, doing this may solve the problem. If the stand doesn't go all the way back, the loader will creep forward over time until it builds pressure in the cylinder.

Second, ask your dealer about an optional SINGLE POINT HYDRAULIC CONNECTION. It's available for the new 2-series tractors. Maybe it will fit on your 2720.

That's the first I've seen of the single point on CUT's. Probably will be showing up on other brands also. I would guess that it surely connects under pressure?

If I were in the hydraulic business and couldn't come up with a better coupling than the standard quick coupling I would have to shoot myself. I'm sick and tired of dealing with these fittings. Googling, I found European units with a lever handle that actually are quick couplings with a single acting lever for 4-6 or more fittings. Today I removed the snowblower and installed the bucket on my JD 2720. This is not an old tractor,(2012) and today with the attachments would cost 35k. The process sucks just as much as I remember from last year. The loader has been in heated storage on a smooth concrete floor for 7 months. Why do I have to use a wad of paper towels and shove with all my might against the seating platform to release the pressure to get these fittings so that they will engage and attach? Fluid all over my hands, all over the floor, all over my tractor. My tractor has 225hrs on the hobbs and I've got a trash can cover on the floor under my hydraulic fittings so that I don't get fluid all over my new floor from leaking fittings as my tractor spends most of its time just sitting there looking pretty and leaking. THIS SYSTEM ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!!!! There is no excuse for this. My tractor has leaked since about 50hrs. It's time for all respectable manufacturers to find a solution.
Don't blame the coupler, blame the mfg of YOUR tractor for putting the cheapo ones on it!

On my tractor, to put them on, you just push them in and they are locked into place. To take them off, you just pull them out... (the hoses)

Also on my tractor, it has the single point connection for the loader...

You can blame john deere for not having THAT std on their loaders too... lol

Have to laugh. Funny how real farmers never complained so much about "quick couplings".

Before you unhook do you turn your tractor off and cycle the controls in all directions for a few seconds. Then when youæ±*e ready to hook back up do the same? I don稚 ever have issues with mine and that includes front and two remotes in the rear that get used frequently

Exactly.....my Dad taught me to do that some 50+ years ago and it hasn't failed me yet.
