What's your beef with traffic rotaries? Granted we've had them here in New England for decades, but once you get used to it, they do help traffic flow.

I didn't read his comment as defending people who do that, just that you'd need to be very oblivious to your surroundings to step on one compared to dog crap.
Can't say I've ever seen a dirty diaper in a parking lot though...maybe I need to get out more? :ROFLMAO:
There are so few in the US they are a disaster. People sit confused waiting for the entire roundabout to clear of traffic. Or they make them so small the big semi trucks can not navigate them.

When they are installed so as to actually improve the flow of traffic, fine. Where I live, they almost never do that. They install them around here with the specific intent of slowing down traffic, like a really big, expensive and dangerous speed bump.

One of the most egregious examples is a rural two-lane highway (55mph speed limit) where they have installed three of them at about 1 mile intervals. The cross streets are just lightly travelled country roads.
But somebody's great aunt pulled out in front of a semi truck and got creamed one time so now all of humanity has to pay the price for the next millennium.

We have a bunch of round abouts and I love them. Every one they have added in the city has improved the flow of traffic. Although you do still get the odd out of towner that stops in the middle or heads directly opposite the flow of traffic.

My dislike of roundabouts is when there are 3-5 in a row, maybe a block or two apart, and all have different single-double lane arrangements.

My point is that the diaper shouldn't be in the parking lot in the first place.

Nor should the dog ****, which is why I clean up after my dog.

I love the roundabouts, so much smoother traffic flow than a regular 4 way. Only issue are the morons that don’t know how to use them.
I don't really care for them, except to evaluate the cornering ability of a vehicle after having modified something.

And I really don't like them in countries with left hand traffic. Having three LHD vehicles that part doesn't bother me, but add driving on the left through a roundabout and that's where I'm likely to screw up.

Also, as someone pointed out above, once ended up in a quaint neighborhood by New Orleans full of roundabouts - pulling doubles.

At the last one (as it turned out) I didn't even try to keep the tractor and first trailer off of it. Just drove straight over it, killing lots of little pretty flowers.

I've been through at least 10 of them everyday for the last week, all 45 mph two-lane, and never any problem. The Florida Keys are absolutely littered with them. Best way I know, to keep a big mass of traffic moving at multi-lane intersections on local roads.

Maybe just too much for you western-staters to handle? No issue on the east coast. :p
