Farmall Cub is the best compact ever built
I'll bite. It is a tractor I want, but do not have now.
I would say the Farmall Cub. IH found a great niche for a small tractor that could do lots of jobs. They built tons of them, from the 40's till the late 70's. IH made all kinds of accessories for them, as did the aftermarket companies. You can still get brand new Woods belly mowers for them
The Cub still sees use. They seem to be very popular as mowing machines in the mid-west and east coast. Many are collected and restored now, but they still seem to have lots in the fields and gardens.
I do not see the small farm/garden attachments for my Kubota that were made for Cub's. Ya, I have a mower, loader, and PHD. But, you can get those for a Cub. For mowere they even had small flail's, sickles, belly mowers. You could get a belly grader, or a front plow. You could get disc's, one bottom plows, seeders, cultivators, ect.
My
B8200, or the newer Kubota CUT's could do many of these things, except the attachments are not available. Also, our ground clearance is limited, limitng what cultivation we could do.
Also, since having my '41 Farmall "A" in addition to my '87
B8200, I personally don't foresee as many modern CUT's being as proliferated when they are 50 and 60 years old. They are too hard to work on, and too complicated. I don't think 45 years from now someone will really want to restore my
B8200, even though it is a wonderful tractor.
So there you have it, the Farmall Cub.
