What is the best way to level truck when towing?

/ What is the best way to level truck when towing? #61
I'm looking for recommendations on keeping my truck level when towing my various trailers. I have a boat trailer that has about 750 lbs of tongue weight. I have a box trailer that tongue weight varies between 500 and 1200 lbs depending on loading and what I am carrying. I have a flatbed for moving my tractor and tongue weight varies depending on what implements I have on the tractor at the time. Several folks have said the best way to go is with a weight distribution hitch. But the manufacturer of my aluminum framed boat trailer says not to use them. The weights on the box trailer is all over the place and I'm not sure how much readjusting of a WD hitch might be needed. Then there is the option of using an air bag suspension. What does the collective TBN wisdom have to say/recommend?? TIA
Air bag suspension may raise the rear of the truck, but it does not increase the capacity of the truck, legally at least. No idea what you are towing with, but your truck may be overloaded. A weight distribution hitch that can handle the max weight can be easily adjusted for the lighter tongue weight by simply putting less tension on the spring bars, frequently connected with chains. Just change which link you hook up to.

In the 1960's and 70's, before trucks were nice, people towed travel trailers with passenger cars. My father towed a 4,500 lb travel trailer with a hitch weight of 650 lbs successfully using an Eaz-lift weight distribution hitch. It distributed 200 lbs back tor the trailer axles, 200 to the front of the car axle and 200 to the rear of the car. It leveled the car, a 4,100 lb Pontiac Bonneville very well. He had a steep driveway, and the receiver, when empty would drag going in the driveway. With the trailer attached, it did not drag. An added advantage was in 49 mph winds, the trailer did not sway, and this did not have an anti-sway device, just the equalizer.

Try moving some of the weight if possible, to the rear of the boat, such as spare fuel cans, anchor and chain, etc. Just make certain the stuff is all tied down. That would help with the utility trailer as well if that is possible. 10 - 15% on the tongue is all you need for good towing.
