They seem to have more of a purpose in Europe.

Here are some Kubota BX tractors with front hitch.

It begs the question once again: Why are so many more tractor product types available in Europe than the U.S.?

I would like to run a brush cutter in the front, so I can see what is in front. My property is an old tree farm, so there are holes all over the place. I would also like to operate a tiller on the front for scraping up the top two or three inches of soil. This is not for planting, it is for uprooting weeds for a trail.

For the small tractors it maybe so simple that in the US this is mainly a price sensetive market aimed at privat ownership, in europe this is markedet as a proffesional tool that cost much and must be productive.

And as a reader of this forum over time i cant help but wonder over all the fear of new tecnology, solutions and way of doing things a new way, in Europe pepole want the latest and greatest on tractors, the more the better.

What are you trying to do with a front PTO? That makes a difference. Tractors are made to pull for heavy ground-engaging work. For light work like mowing and snow blowing it makes sense to work off the front, and there are attachments to do that right now.

Yes, that's the point. That photo is of a big tractor, probably high hp & full time 4wd, with big driving tires & likely has extra weight in the front.
You were origninally asking about front 3pts on small tractors. A small tractor is better at pulling than pushing.

Also, when you move the tools to the front, you pretty much need to buy new tools too... Front pto's generally are 1000 rpm and lots of time the tools run the wrong direction...

It's MUCH more complicated on these very lightly built compact tractors.

I have a Kubota L4330. It is an outstanding machine, but I am getting tired of constantly twisting my back and neck for hours at a time. Is there a machine (not necessarily a tractor) that accepts *standard* 3-pt attachments in the front? If not, how big of job is it to put a 3-pt and PTO in a tractor?

A PowerTrak is close to what I think I want, but I do not want to modify all of my attachments to be used by a PT. Why do they not make their machine cat-1 compatible?

PowerTrac's powered implements are hydraulically powered. No PTO. Brush cutter, mower, brooms, stump grinder, post hole digger, etc... all hydraulically powered on the FEL arms.

Also, you wouldn't want to push something that engages the ground, like a dirt plow or box blade. Why? Because the machine will try to walk up over it if it is in float. About the only way to avoid that would be with gauge wheels out in front of the implement.

HOLDER (German) has always made front hitch articulated tractors.

If such tractors ever became popular here, I hope they do away with the TERRIBLE, antique Ferguson hitch. The only worse than one on a tractor, is two!

I own an Antonio Carraro TTR4400 which is reversible. This is a 38HP 4WD machine with reversible operators station. What is 'behind' you has only to do with which way you orient the seat. It's an amazing machine. They are hard to find but when I was shopping a few years ago there was a dealer/importer in SW PA. Not cheap, but also not much competition in the NA market and not another machine here that can do what it does.

The PTO is standard 540. The only issue with PTO mounted implements, like a brush cutter/flail mower is that they will need to be mountable either front or back. Many flail mowers today offer this. I've got a 5' Del Merino flail and it's an amazing pair. It's very easy to see what you're about to mow because you're not pushing stuff down/over with the tractor, having it drag along the belly of the machine where it can tear stuff off. You do need to be aware of stubble created by the mower when mowing 1-2" trees, but my flail mower more or less explodes that stuff so there's nothing pokey left.

Here's a link to the new version of the model I have.

Down side is that these machines aren't suited for a loader. That's a big deal if you've only got one tractor.
