I concur, it's a secondary place to add oil; that's my:2cents:
I want to say I believe it is the correct place to add oil- check your owner's manual. Putting oil in through the valve cover can cause a vapor lock type condition where the oil does not pass through to the crankcase as it does from the lower fill port, thus causing problems. I seem to remember reading about this- just can't cite where. And I don't have a CK series, so it may not apply. I'd want to know for sure before I do possible damage to my engine though. See what the manual says ans report back so others aren't mislead.
I have one question...If (and I'll call my dealer tomorrow), if it is potentially dangerous to add oil in the valve cover...then why would Kioti even have the cap there?
I still think if you have the possibilty to destroy your engine by adding oil through the valve cover, there would be some kind of seal so you couldn't add oil there or at least a warning sticker by that cap...I'll find out tomorrow.
I've no idea what Kioti manual says but here is the page from my Bobcat OM. Note the caution statement in left column under second picture. Usually not a problem if filling with quart bottles with some time for oil to run down while opening the next bottle, but can overfill the valve cover and put oil through the crankcase vent into the air intak manifold if dumping full gallon or more at non-stop.
