My DK35se manual only shows the orange fill port by the IP.. I did not even know about the one on the valve cover. I will check for it next time I have the hood up. One thing I have learned in Kioti manuals: There is a lot of erroneous and conflicting information in the manual.

I have been waiting for someone to comment about another irregularity. The dipstick on mine is on the other side.

My 2005 DK45S owners manual also should adding oil into the valve cover, although it is painted gray like the rest of the engine. I do have one of those orange caps like in the original post, but it is on the other side of the engine, behind the exhaust pipe. It would require a transmission funnel to add oil in there.

Somewhere about 2005 there was a design change that put the oil fill port under the IP and changed the linkages to the IP. It may have changed other things too. But Kioti documentation isn't always up to speed (their English language docs are not Kioti's best feature) and the manuals dosn't note different configurations, as far as I can tell. For example, I have two DK45 owners manuals that show different maintenance schedules but nothing shows when the manuals were published or which year-models are covered. But the online OEM parts sites (e.g. OEM Parts) do show the applicable serial numbers for these changes. For Newer models also sold by Bobcat, the Bobcat documents may be better.
Having said that, Kioti is still a great tractor even if their support systems aren't as good as the competition.

Hi All,
One of the advantages of filling at the injector pump is that the oil does nopt have to drain down the small passage ways and make you wait for an accurate level. The fill cap at the pump is large (high volume) and goes directly into the crankcase for a quick level check. This way you do not get air bound working it's way down throught the engine. Forget about the hard to reach valve coverand fill at the side access by the injector pump.

I finally looked at my owners manual and service manual today, and both tell me to add oil in the rocker cover, as shown in the diagram above from Alien. With that being said...I will add the oil from now on in the orange cap shown in my picture that started this post. It will be easier than adding it in the rocker cover anyway.

I'd bet more recent manuals say to fill the oil using the red cap on the side.

My tractor was purchased only 2 months ago, I guess the owners manual could be older.
