Two questions. 1 if the pic posted, what is this. It's beside the hydraulic block on the left if looking at the tractor from the back. 2nd question has anyone ever added a hydraulic pressure gauge to a 1700b and are there ports anywhere
That is the Drop Rate Valve. You can adjust it depending on the weight of a rear implement, and whether you want it to drop quick or gradually. Basically it chokes the bleed-off line.
And note that the large knob under the front of the seat isn't intended to control drop rate on this model. That valve should remain wide open, or else closed when you need an implement to stay raised up to lube it etc.
Here's the diagram from YM240 Owner's Manual. You should get one, it's the best documentation available in English for your YM1700.
And here's the old thread on this topic where I posted the diagram long ago. This might be helpful to some other new owner in the future.
As for a port for a hydraulic pressure gauge - I don't think so. After replacing my loader valve I wanted to verify that the pressure relief setting was ok. So I put a 'T' and a gauge temporarily in the line to my loader. I don't know of any other way to do it.
Actually I was talking about the cylinder thing with two nipples beside the drop rate valve. It looks like it should be some sort of filter or something. Thanks for helping. I really appreciate your help.
No real need for a hyd gauge. Thought it would be an interesting project
