Forgot another one from my youth...

I used to work in a garage in the early 1960's and this one little guy had a wide assortment of hammers--from very small to very large.
On a difficult job with no solution in sight, he would very often, and only slightly joking, say to me:

"Son, bring me the big hammer".

Heavy accent on "the big hammer. He rarely used it but he was an artist with hammers.

It used to be my signature line for years.

about a year ago I broke my little finder on my left hand adn did not go to the dr for some time and only them to shut up my wife.

Dr says " how did you do this" I said "being a man"
Dr says "Does it hurt" I said "sure it does"
Dr says "why did you not come see me sooner" I said "I am a man and it is the little finger on my left hand and you will do nothing anyway"
Dr says "why you seeing me now" I said "being a man my wife made me"

Then he wants to put this big brace thing on it for weeks I laughed at him and asked if he really thought that brace had a chance of even making it my truck
So I left with it buddy taped like it was when I went in and refused the pain pills hewanted me to take

My favorite phrase is exactly the same as written in my signature. Just translated into my native language.
When the situation among the friends is going to be under stress, I say "Come on! ... life is just a passing parade ...". This expression is taken from the name of the song of Carlos Santana.
