My uncle would always say. "If I was any better I'd have to take something for it"!

The other day on a conference call at work someone asked how I was doing and I said, in a moment of country boy roots flashback, "oh fair to Middlin"! She started laughing and said boy I haven't heard that one in years. But she had heard it and it tickled her to hear it in that setting. :D

I'm not going to hide my inner country roots any longer. I for some reason thought that corporate america wouldn't respect me if they knew my lineage. I think I was wrong; people respect your character and integrity for the most part; at least the ones that matter.

Okey Dokey. It is a latin quote, "the eagle doesn't catch flies" In other words, the eagle doesn't bother with small stuff.

You really should get a smart phone. :) And a QR code is just another type of "bar code" that can point to web sites or darn near anything. And there are many apps in the app store to read these codes automagicilly on your smart phone. I used Google goggles in this case. Just open Google goggles, and point your smart phone at the QR code and the haptic feedback will buzz one time and it will automatically scan the code and return a result. Google goggles can do a WHOLE lot more too. Including looking at a photograph or scene, and returning a result. It isn't always right, but sometimes it is eerily correct.

"Automagicilly" or 'automagically'! Thanks for the new word... or sniglet, James.

You triggered an ancient memory, and I am compelled to share it. Here goes...

Many years ago, I was watching the old "Lassie" series on an old Magnavox black and white TV. In this episode, the Grandfather went to the old crank telephone and rang "central". He knew the central operator personally; I believe her name was "Milllie". He said "Hello, Millie"...and then a pause, and he says "Oh, fair to middlin". Then he says, "let me talk to Doc So and So...Thanks".

Pretty soon, he says "Hi, Doc...Oh, I'm fit as a fiddle Doc"...and proceeds to carry on his conversation. When he hangs up, the Mother says to him "Dad, how come you are 'fair to middlin' to Millie, and 'fit as a fiddle to Doc?

He says: "If I had told Millie I was 'fit as a fiddle' she would have told everybody I had been drinking; and if I had told Doc I was 'fair to midlin', he would have thought I was sick and would have made me come in to see him".
