I think Warren Buffet said:

Only when the tide goes out, do you find out who has been swimming naked.

I wondered about that as well.

Thought maybe duckey knew something about Warren that I had never heard

It takes money to make money.

As it turns out, it also takes money to loose money.

I got downsized at work several years ago..... So you're nervous about what's going to happen now (was pretty sudden)....

I go back to an old Moody Blues song where there is a verse "Every happy ending, has to have a start"

Then it doesn't seem so bad.

To go to this specific situation..... I went from the pan to the fire. Took a job my wife told me to pass up.... I said everything about them seems to check out and I like their answers....

Fast forward a year and the wife is saying "how did you luck into that job??!!!!???!!"

So yet again, the happy ending had to have a start.

I work for a company that represents all of the State (of Tennessee) employees with regard to their pension plan and 401K. I get to help new hires get into the plan..... help established employees negotiate the plan and one day a week, I spend at the office helping long term employees transition into retirement with their pension. VERY gratifying and not a 'sales' job. (though I do try to "sell" them on the 401K plan which really is in their best interst AND, I get no commissions"

Cover 10 counties, get paid miles for my efforts, have a company credit card....if I drive 10 miles beyond my house (every day), then I get to use their card and buy myself lunch or dinner, 5% (which is better than my prior) match to 401K AND (and this was the part that has my wife's jaw dropped) have a premium health care option where my out of pocket deductible is higher BUT, once I hit it then everything (EVERYTHING) is 100% paid for. Since I'm on a medication that is over $20,000/month the drug company has a program where THEY pay my co-pay.....which alone covers my out of pocket expense so though I pay a slightly higher premium per month, the net effect of all this is starting January 5'ish, I'll have my first monthly shot....and that will pay for my deductible so for the rest of the year it's 100% paid.

I've thought of that line many times.
