There have been TBNers over the years with bad spelling and grammar but who have very valuable comments. It may take some effort to parse out the meaning but I have found that the information was worth the extra work on my part.

I never disregard what someone has to say simply because of bad spelling and/or grammar, and have been known to make a few typos myself. However, one thing that will cause me to skip over a post just about every time, is when someone types out one HUGE blob of a paragraph that seems to run on forever with no breaks to make it easier to read. :confused2:

Not every one goes to an accredited University but many go to EU aka Experience University. You don't get a degree from EU but one can get edicated just fine there. :D

Experience is the best teacher. :)

Usually get mature, topical responses. Can't say that about all forums.

And I think I can tell the right from the wrong responses.

Lessons learned at EU can be the painful and/or expensive kind, therefore easily remembered :)

i.e. Some AM towers are hot. Do not walk up & touch an AM tower

1. Is the poster polite in his or her answers?
2. Does the answer make sense?
3. Is there a lot of buy-in and agreement from other posters?
4. Did the poster provide relevant pictures, diagrams, or links?
5. Does the poster own a tractor or the equipment in question?
6. Does the poster honestly like dogs? (Sorry, I had to throw that in. I don't know anyone who liked dogs who didn't have some redeeming quality.)

Sound Guy's grammar and spelling has declined because of the input device he has to use. I have not found it troublesome but other people have had issues with his posts of late.

We call that the College of Hard Knocks around here...and I have a Ph.D...

Heck, when I first saw Soundguy's spelling and grammer, I just figured he was tipping a few brewski's...

I have been here about 14 years, since the very very begining.

Over time I have found trends in posters that indicate thier knowledge. It is definitely not indicated by post counts as a rule. And, over those 14 years, I have seen many knowledable poster move on, while new folks join.

I know I have had some threads where I was wrong, but was corrected(in a good way), and learned because of it

A really nice RF burn is the kind that turns white and makes a hard deep painful "corn" of dead tissue that persists for a long time and finally falls out and leaves a crater. Don't ask me how I know:eek: This was at a VHF not MF.. but still I bet yours hurt. And you do know some AM stations run up to 50,000 watts.. Not many, but a lot of them will run 5000. Best to stay away from transmitter antennas.

Okay, not been here nearly that long, but it certainly will expand your knowledge..to read most postings,.if you don't get your foot caught in a door?

Funny thing is, remember when you could read a whole days worth of postings in just a couple minutes! Hard to believe at one time there were fewer than 100 members.

It is very hard to keep up with all the posts.

One way I have learned here though, is reading more of the tractor brand specific forums, even though it is not the brand I own. Able to glean useful tidbits of info that are helpful across brands and platforms.

I also recomend the search function more often, because there is a wealth of knowledge in existing posts and threads.

Grammar, Roy, grammar....

So maybe if I wasn't so obsessive about having perfect grammar, spelling, and punctuation in my posts, I would be more credible?
