My brother applied for $1500 PGE rebates to install energy efficient home measures including HVAC, duct work, etc..

We did the work and he never got the rebate money because of the bankruptcy…

It’s kind of made a skeptic out of me when it comes to programs…

We pay about .07 a kwh being in Webster county MO, so ours is really cheap. We have 5500 sq. ft. walkout and average 120.00 per month for electric.

I sell solar to people here in Missouri and Arkansas. Those on Liberty Electric, White River, Ameren and others can save a ton of money by getting Solar. I sold a lady in Forsyth a system, she was on Liberty with an average monthly bill between 700-800 dollars. Her bill for December was 1020.00.

She now pays about 450.00 per month for her Solar, plus the 14.00 meter fee from Liberty and maybe a little bit of energy from them here and there. She literally broke down crying when I showed her payments. BTW, Liberty rates are set to increase 30% sometime this year, and they've already applied for a rate hike in 2026.

.102 per KWH until the sun started coming out more often. Last month we dropped to less than 1/3 of the same time the previous year because of adding the solar panels, batteries, and Inverter. This put us below the 1250 KWH per month threshold and dropped us to the .0823 per KWH rate. It will be great this summer, already had a few 90+ KWH production days.
Winters are bad though, last January alone I think we hit over 5000 KWH use. Just passed the first $500 of grid use reduction

Most of Idaho's power companies have already let it be known that price increases are inevitable before years end.

Funny observation about T8 4’ lamps…

In 1995 we were the first project using T8 in the city… 32W instead of 40W

20% reduction to power lighting in a big building is significant…

With our possible closing the move to LED has been on hold because of the upfront capital outlay…
I’ve just replaced the last of the 1995 Sylvania T8 bulbs which were basically locked on over 30 years ago.

That said the same bulbs would only last weeks or months in some of the busy office restrooms… the non stop lights on and lights off greatly affected longevity…
Interesting experience with the T8 32W electronic ballast lights.

I also bought them when I was building my house and workshop back in the 90s. My workshop was first in about 1996. All 8 four-footers are still working fine, and some of the the bulbs are still original! No flicker down to 40F, and instant-on.

I had to special-order them from a commercial supplier back then, as HD and Lowes did not carry electronic ballast fluorescents.
