I'd like to feel that the engine and other components aren't ready to crap out on me
before I spend $800 on tires, have it split to address the clutch issues then add a new wiring harness to the bill.

It's a 1984 Kubota L275 (gear driven,27HP) with 1930 hours on the clock; plus another 300+-hours since the cable broke 3 years ago. (who knows if it was always hooked up before I bought it)

The two stage clutch seems strong, but I've never been able to adjust it properly. There is one more adjustment which could be made, but it has to be out and on a bench.

I'm not online much but any suggestions would be appreciated.

What's your tractor worth right now... and what would it be worth with new clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing and wiring harness and tires? Seems to me, that with nearly 2,000 hours and requiring a tractor split to "adjust" the clutch - a brand new one is the prudent choice.

And what would it cost you to replace the entire tractor with another machine of similar size?

'Course the engine and drivetrain should be only be about a 1/3 of the way thru a normal lifespan; so, you could expect around 6,000 hours of use with good maintainance.

Between the exercise of workin' the numbers and throwing in the possibility of a new or newer machine -- you'll find the right direction to proceed -- that fits your situation.

Best of luck.

yes its true you should have alot more egine hours left but who has got a crystal ball you would be mad to split the tactor to adjust the pressure plate just put a new clutch in and be done with it unless you want practise on splitting a tractor:rolleyes:

If you plan on keeping it you might get a UOA done on the engine oil. It will at least give you a idea if there is a high amount of wear metal and what type.
