Did some grading today with the 6' grader -- overall, worked well.
Was able to reclaim a lower drive to the basement that is rarely used and was starting to grass over. When pulling up grass, leaves, and sticks, it would clog up some, but at least it cleaned it up. Quite a bit of gravel still there once I graded it.
1/8 mi or so of the lane is nice limestone, and is in pretty good shape -- grader worked well there.
Rest of lane (1/2 mi) is asphalt grindings. This part was a little more challenging as the grader would really load up on the fine asphalt, and then there were occasional big chunks of rock and what looked like brick that would get brought up at times. Not sure if that is part of the original road bed, or the nature of asphalt grindings. Had to go pretty slow in the rocky areas to keep the grader from bouncing around too much. Hill was a pretty hard pull, but lifting the grader slightly worked well to dump some of the load. I think overall I made some progress. Guess we'll see after we drive on it some.
860 did great pulling the grader.
