What size trailer?

If you get a bumper pull trailer long enough to pull all of that, with the tractor on the front, you're going to greatly exceed your tongue weight limits. The trailer axles will be so far back that a majority of the weight of the tractor itself is going to be on the trucks rear axle. I would highly recommend a gooseneck or 5th wheel for what you're intending to do. They pull so much nicer than a bumper pull with 5k+ lbs of cargo.

Really more to it than that, for instance if the tractor and bushhog are in front how do you unload or load the disk on the rear? Same is true with a gooseneck, if you put the disk on the front floor you loose the ability to fasten down the fel to the top of the hitch top deck.

Not true. I have seen 30' BP trailers or longer.

Chris

yep.. you can get a tripple axle BP in 30' from a couple local builders.

even if the guy use dthe laoder to load the mower on the front of the trailer, pulled on and rested the laoder on the mower, and had the disc on the rear.. he'd either eat up a 25' trailer.. or be right on the edge od safe in a half ton.

I'd ditto the gooseneck recomendation. of course that still leaves his overall GCVW issue.. and a half ton truck

I have a 2010 Case IH Farmall 45. I currently have a Bush Hog SQ172 (6 ft.) bush hog for it and plan on getting a 6ft disk for it. I'd like to be able to tow all of this to my hunting locations for food plot work. I will be towing with a 2004 F150 4wd. I want a bumper pull style trailer. What size trailer do I need to be looking for? I measured my tractor and bush hog the other night. It was roughly 25ft long including the FEL. I'm thinking I can raise the bucket up over the bed of the truck to cut out some space or maneuver it for more space on the trailer.

If you really want to haul all of this, tractor with loader, brush hog, and disc, than you are going to need a bigger truck. The tractor weighs roughly 4500# plus 1200# for the loader. Then add in 1000# each for the brush hog and disc and you have ~7700# of equipment plus all the chains needed to tie it down. A trailer long enough to load everything on is going to weigh 4-5k so you are looking at a 14k trailer and you would have a loaded trailer weight of 12-13k.

If you are going to go ahead and do this I would look for a 25' + 5' 14k (2 7k axels) deck over gooseneck trailer. This would let you set the disc on the front of the trailer with the loader, chain it down, and then pull the tractor and brush hog on behind it. To do this, however, you would need at least a 3/4 ton truck.

One other thought on pulling with a 1/2T. DOT. You wouldn't want to find yourself leaving your load on the side of a road and paying a hefty fine on top of that. I agree the f150 is a great truck but putting that much weight will be at the very top of your GCVW. And I'm sure you want to keep your truck looking good. Here's a thought pick up an older 1T truck just for this purpose. You could find a truck in good condition for under $4k. Fuel mileage wouldn't be that great unless you go diesel but putting minimum insurance and using it for when you need to move your tractor......Hmmmmm. Might be an option. And you would definitely be legal.

I'll also echo about lifting the back of your truck off the ground. I use a 25ft GN on my 3/4 ton and it just abouts lifts the back end up when I load my JD on it. I plan on adding some stabilation jacks on the back to prevent it from happening.

Good luck.

Hmm. Max legal load 80k lbs. Max legal gross weight 120k lbs. Seems to me that they're only pulling about 2x their weight.

I think you misunderstood me. Tractor is about 15,000# to 16,000# on average and the max GCWR is 80,000# in most places. So about 4 to 5 times the weight.
