I thought the discussion was about item 4 in the picture or what I call a "turnbuckle" on my BX? Do agree that cleaning and greasing is the answer!

I put silicone spray on all the 3 ph screws and connections. This is what JD recommends. It the threads are rusty, you'll first need to clean them up using something like PB Blaster. Then clean with detergent or Simple Green or Purple Power of Orange. Dry and apply silicone spray.

Hi Rox, how goes it?

Well, you're the first systems analyst-turned-olive farmer I've talked to all day. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Congratulations on your bold move, I think that's great.

One product that no one has mentioned, but that I find invaluable, is penetrating grease. It sprays on thin like a penetrant, seeps into tight places, then thickens up into a grease. Super stuff to have around.

Lots of other good ideas here too of course; taking all the linkages apart, cleaning them well with solvents and scrubbing, then either greasing them up or coating them with anti-seize compound, or, if you're operating in really dirty, dusty conditions, maybe using a "dry" type of lubricant like graphite powder, spray-on molybdenum disulfide, or the silicone spray (I guess maybe JD knows a little bit about tractors). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bon chance, John

Keep a can of motorcycle chain lube around for stuff like this. Works wonders.....

I hope you live close to a medical facility.....decisions like that sound like an accident waiting to happen!!! When learning, ALWAYS error on the side of safety.

I won't even go out of the house while my wife backs her car out of the garage!!..LMAO!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Many thanks to all,
I relied to kljunior because his was the last post, but really my thanks is for everybody.

The rototiller was on a wooden pallet with 4 wheels but one of the wheels kind of crumpled, so that made it impossile for my husband to move the tiller around and he had to stand inbetween the tiller and the tractor instead.

We are getting a pallet of glass bottles delivered and my husband wants to wait and see what that pallet looks like. If it is a better pallet than the one with the bsuted wheel then we will use that one and buy one new wheel and take the other three wheels off the existing pallet.

One thing is, my husband always listens very respectfully when I tell him, "I asked ... on that tractor forum and the guys there said..."

When we take the rototiller off in a few weeks I'll take off that part which I think is the sway bar, and clean it as you folks described. I told my husband that the guys here said they only cost like $20, he repied "I'm sure not in france can we get it that cheap!" I will wear safety glasses, as one time I was wire brushing something and got rust in my eye and couldn't get it out, so I had to go to the emergency room. Now any time I wire brush, I wear safety gogles.

I hope once we fix the pallet on wheels that will allow us to connect up the rototiller without my husband having to get between the tiller and the tractor.

CT Tree guy, how much does that penetrating grease cost?

Also apologies to all I now see that there is a forum called Oil, Fuel and Lubrication where this topic belongs. I never noticed it before. Also I couldn't think of the word Lubrication, so I used slippery, but you all figured it out jsut fine. I swear I am loosing my vocabulary!

Hiya Rox -

The penetrating grease is pretty cheap - maybe around $6 US - I guess that's around 5 Euros?

And I think you made a pretty good choice of forums to post your question in. Sure, I suppose it's technically a lubrication question, but ... A) since a moderator didn't move it, they probably thought it was OK to post it here, and B) try to stay out of the Oil, Fuel and Lubricants forum anyway - there are too many whackos in there! (I should know, I'm one of them). /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Take care (oops, I mean au revoir),

John

Rox,
You may benefit greatly from one of the quick hitch systems you will see here on TBN.
I am thinking that Pat's Easy Change system, due to you having a mixed bag of equipment.
Once you have a system like this, hookup to these implements will be easy like pie! It would eliminate the
problems caused by uneven implements, etc. Just back up ,, and lift the 3 pt hitch, and they will hook onto the implement by themselves!
here's the info:

kl,

I'm with ya on that "wife backing the car out of the garage" thing! The other day, mine proceeded to back her Tahoe out of the garage, turned slightly while backing up and ran right into our cattle trailer. Not much damage, just a scratch on the bumper. But it's not like the trailer was even close to the house. Sometimes I wonder about her???? Women, you gotta love 'em! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Ladies on TBN, please don't get upset. This is not a remark towards all women drivers, just a "loving husband" making an observation about my wife's driving habits!) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey, I just want to pass along some great advice my Dad once gave me: "If your wife wants to learn how to drive, don't stand in her way". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And now, to make amends to all the ladies out there that Marooned and I might be offending, a little confession: about 2 months ago I was backing my chip truck out of one of my bays and forgot that I had a 40' ladder on top of the truck that was sticking out from the rear about 3'. The steel building behind me refused to yield the right of way, and the resulting collision set me back around 500 bucks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

There, we're even. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
