What teams will play in the next Superbowl?

I cannot deny that I enjoyed the Texans beating the Chiefs tonight. I particularly liked that Kelsie blew two late catches, I wonder if ol' what's her name will dump him now. I am just so tired of the ever present Tomato Team. Stroud sure is coming into his own.

This is just sad

Don't know if it's true or not, but I hate it when I stay up late to watch the Birds and they lose it like that at the end.

Has a QB EVER thrown and interception and lost a fumble in ONE play? More important things in life, and just have to laugh at it.

From your post, I see you enjoyed the game about as much as I did.😩

I watch almost no NFL anymore, and less and less full college games, although I keep up with rankings and SEC standing.

As a point about other, odd pro sports, day after thanks giving, I did watch some women's pro hockey with my niece. So, are the players as good, no, but its still entertaining, and they do play like they are serious. Not getting involved in women's sports pay BS, but im also not against women's sports. Not something I would just sit down and watch, but not bad. Mostly ex-olympic players, so, actual athletes.

Compared to some years, it seems there isn't a clear 2-4 teams that have the inside track.

NFC has 8 or 9 teams that have a legit shot at going. All of them have some warts. Some good records are due to catching a break with schedules (playing a good team with significant injuries, etc.)

AFC is the same, but different. Two 11-2 teams don't seem dominant. Even the teams around .500 are dangerous on any given Sunday.

It's going to come down to health and who is peaking at the right time.

Playoff games could come down to weather. If I counted correctly, at least 5 current 'playoff' teams in each conference play outdoors, many in cold climates.

This weekend hopefully clears up the race a bit out here in the NFC West, if not next weekend should.

Bummer that two of the three games today (Christmas) are on Netflix. I happen to have prime, so I will be able to watch KC-Denver.

Bigger bummer that they put games on Christmas.

I get being a fan, but to spend that kind of money on a game and having to be there on Christmas day is beyond my comprehension...

Yes, and it was supposed to be “their year”.
I still don’t see a clear choice, but in the NFC, I like the Rams right now, as long as you can keep Stafford clean in the pocket. The man is a statue if there ever was one.
My Eagles are a disappointment on offense. The O-line is more banged-up than football 101 peeps realize. Running game is about 1/2 of what it was last year. Even the vaunted tush-push is fading. They are good for maybe 21 points on O. D has to hold the opponent to a low scoring game for us to win.
We also have a receiver with a “C” on his chest that never ceases to miss an opportunity to chirp in ways that harm the team.
I’m actually looking forward to the off-season changes for the Eagles. I minor re-tool and we could be vastly improved. On defense, we have one of the youngest defenses in the NFL and it plays like a veteran championship defense most of the time.

Injuries seem to have made the season more one of attrition than it seems is typical. It's not just just a few guys, or a particular team that's been hit hard. There's a handful of games with contenders playing backup QBs in games they need to win.

The NFL needs to fix its referees/rules problems.

There are a lot a fan on social media who don't understand the rules, but even excluding their nonsense, there seems to be an extraordinary amount of poor referee decisions and inconsistency even within the same game.

Given that they were in last years super blow, puts things into perspective with all the Birds woah's this year.
During the history of the NFL one team always seem to ascend to the top of the mountain and then has a sudden fall. The Miami Dolphins comes to mind as the team that once was a dynasty.

“The Miami Dolphins went undefeated and won the Super Bowl in 1972, completing the only perfect season in NFL history with a 17-0 record, culminating in their Super Bowl VII victory over the Washington Redskins in January 1973.“

1972 and 2025 are two vastly separate comparisons IMO.

In todays free agency, salary caps and contracts given to players, it's almost impossible to keep a team intact over a couple of years.

For example, Bill Bergey signed with the Eagles in the 1970's for a 4 year contract for 1 million dollars. That's 6.5 million dollars in 2025 (that's TODAY'S money given the rate of inflation). Dived by 4 years, that's 1.7 million per year, and at the time in the 1970's, Bergey was the highest paid defensive player in the league.

The TOP TEN defensive NFL players in 2025 average 36.2 million a year vs Bergey's record contract in the 1970's.

NFL no different than college now a days. Guys playing the game are getting their share's worth now.

Over the history of the NFL many teams have set on the top of the mountain. The Miami Dolphin is the only one though that sat at the top of the mountain undefeated.

Teams that have sat on the top of the mountain over the years.

“Historically Dominant Seasons
  • 1972 Miami Dolphins: The only team in NFL history to complete a perfect, undefeated season (17-0).
  • 1985 Chicago Bears: Featured one of the most dominant defenses ever, crushing opponents en route to a Super Bowl win.
  • 2007 New England Patriots: Achieved a perfect regular season (16-0) but lost the Super Bowl, marking an iconic, near-flawless year.
  • 1984 San Francisco 49ers: Another dynasty year for the 49ers, known for offensive power.

Recent Dynasties & Standout Years (Post-2000)
  • New England Patriots (Multiple): Dominated for nearly two decades, with several stellar seasons, including 2007.
  • 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers: Won the Super Bowl with an elite defense (98th percentile).
  • 2011 San Francisco 49ers: A defensive powerhouse (98th percentile) that reached the NFC Championship.
  • 2014 Seattle Seahawks: "Legion of Boom" defense led them to a Super Bowl appearance.
  • 2015 Carolina Panthers: Led by MVP Cam Newton, they started 14-0 and reached the Super Bowl.
  • 2017 Philadelphia Eagles: Won the Super Bowl despite losing their MVP QB (Carson Wentz) mid-season.
  • 2022 Kansas City Chiefs & Philadelphia Eagles: Both Super Bowl contenders, with the Chiefs winning it all.
  • 2023 Baltimore Ravens: Elite defense (99th percentile) dominated the regular season before an AFC Championship loss.

Consistent Powerhouses with Stellar Years
  • Green Bay Packers: Have had numerous great teams, including the 2010 squad that won the Super Bowl as a wild card.
  • Dallas Cowboys: Noted for dominant eras, particularly in the 90s.
  • Buffalo Bills: Emerged as strong contenders in recent years, with a top offense and defense in 2022. “

1972 Miami Dolphins. I remember Larry Csonka and Jim Kiick.
I was just a little kid in football heaven.

I never knew the cowboys were a consistent power house with stellar years without Jimmy Johnson and Tom Landry ;) That has to be Jerry's money contributing to that write up LOL

My only point is that going undefeated AND winning the superbowl in the same year in NFL is more about luck than anything else.

Well, the Eagles might be peaking at the right time….on defense anyways.
Their offense still sputtering along.
I thought the game v. the Bills was an excellent defensive performance.
