what the heck, ac mig welder

I'm wondering if the label on the HF is wrong. I'be measured mine and it's DC. It's one of several that I own and has worked quite well. Bought it over6 years ago. Made one mod to help with with the low duty factor by adding a fan. Don't get me wrong it's not my primary welded but it has come in handy for fixing things like gates etc. Just use good quality wire as HF wire is crap.

I would not buy a welder from princess auto, I dont trust anything electronic, or saftey related from there. The powerfist ones are listed as AC, and so are some of the harbor frieght ones, so they are useless. If I get a mig it would be a lincoln.

Shield Arc, does the SA-200 have plugs on it to run a grinder or drill? If so, are they DC or AC.

Yes they have a 120-volt plug, but they're DC ONLY! The older models with vacuum idlers, the idler has to be pinned so the engine stays at high RPM. There is a grind-ease option you can install that will kick the RPM's up to high when you start to grind. I have one SA-200 that has an electronic idler, it will kick up to high RPM when you start to grind.

OK great, the DC ony is fine, I have some very old industrial drills that can run on dc, and I think my 7 inch grinder can as well ( I will have to check that).

As far as value goes, Hobart has really become a good brand to own again over the past 10 years.

As I said, I am not needing a mig welder right now, but when I do, I will take a look at hobart.
