What the heck is making these holes?

That is why I screwed them down to the floor. And I have caught 哲orthern squirrels in those same traps, by tying a peanut to the trip mechanism. On the other hand, here in Toronto we used the same traps to try and catch squirrels, but the squirrels were so big that they could easily squirm out of them. And by the way, surprisingly enough, we did catch mice in them!

I bet the squirrels that got out of the rat traps, were really PO'd when they finally got free. If you could have been there, I am thinking you would have heard some really bad squirrel language.

I couldn't find a photo of the auger-beaked woodpecker, but I did find one of his smaller cousins.

I had carpenter bees for years in my old house. They didn't go all the way through. The holes were **** close to perfectly round but the diameter was very small like around 3/8 of an inch to 1/2 inch (maybe). From the pictures the holes here look larger.

These holes are 6in in diameter! It is a very wet area with natural springs coming out of the hill.

Oh... OK... not a wombat.

You'd lose half of a front tyre in a wombat hole.

If there's flies buzzing in and out of the hole, it's a woodchuck.

Woodchucks have poor personal hygiene.

The carpenter bees we have don’t make that large a hole. And they are soon plugged by mason bees anyway. Do you have wood borers in your neck of the woods? They leave sawdust behind here so getting a view of the area under one of those holes might be interesting.

Nothing under the holes except dirt. And the moth balls that I dropped down each hole.
