I just bought a 33 acre place with a 3acre pond, 4 acres to mow and live in the buffalo snow belt with a quater mile long driveway. I was looking at green machines but I am starting to lean towards orange. Any suggestions on the best machine to get for a nice lawn but heavy enough to handle the snow (snow blower) and other landscaping and garden work.

Go look at the B series Kubotas; I'm partial to the B2710/B2910, but you might be satisfied with one of the smaller ones.

I own 40 AL in Vt. so obviously we get lots of snow. I finish mow 2 AL and brush hog 10AL. The rest is a wood lot. I just bought a B2910 with FEL and it handles the mowing beautifully. Great cut, very short turning radious, very comfortable to ride on and drive and plenty of power. As for the FEL, I'm finding so many uses for it I can't believe I lived without it. Bird's right, You just can't go wrong with either the B2710 or the B2910.

I would suggest looking at the Economy tractors such as the L series. They are reasonably priced and good deal for the maount of horespower. I also would look into a B21 which is not too heavy for finish mowing yet still a very rigid tractor for tough jobs.

I seen where the B27 & B29 have done a great job mowing, but I would go to the B29 for the snow blower.
Now that you purchase your new home and have 33 arces, just like the rest of us in time you will improve those arces,so what ever task may lay ahead the B29 should do the job...another model you may consider L35.
Do you plan on getting a front end loader?

Stay safe and have a great weekend. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Hello dwarren, we live in NH, and I was quoted high on a B2710 w/ a loader [$17,450] and a 7500 Woods backhoe [$5,995]. Are these numbers too high? If so, where did you buy in VT? As you know, NH has no sales tax, but I find the price he gave me to be high based on other people's comments on this website - thanks.

My quotes for a B2710 w/ R-4 tires, Foldable ROPS, LA402 Loader w/ 54" bucket (4 position valve), BL4690 Backhoe w/ 16" bucket ranged locally from $21,000 to $21,550 (before taxes) with the lowest at Homer Unkefer Inc. in Minerva, OH - where I am purchasing. I'll be getting the tractor & loader within about a week but the backhoe won't be available till mid-October (the delay is because they are changing the brackets that are shipped with the backhoe so they'll fit the newer model tractors (the new backhoe package is designated BL4690a)).
